Rear disc conversion ?

I work at a local garage and we happen to be doing a 2000 blazer with a rear end that was blown up.So I took it all apart and noticed it had rear disc brakes, then i thought more in depth.Rear brackets, calipers, and mounts and all the lines are extra off the old rearend ,so I saved them. Now the question I have is how does the abs on a 2000 differ from the abs on the wifes 92 typhoon.Cause the housing and all mounting is the same. What else do i need to keep the abs working on the TY? Also parking brake where does that change.....etc

Re: Rear disc conversion ?

Everything will bolt up but, you will need to modify your dust shield and backing plate by drilling a hole for the wire to pass through for the rear abs sensors. When I was bolting a pair of these up to my 92 ty there did not seem to be much room where the parrking brake shoes were and the abs sensor. There is also the issue of the parking brake cable. I was going to use a 2 door blazer cable. I do know that you have to use 2wd drums. Another memeber said that he modified the rear disks and made them work on a 92 blazer. Search for my thread about rear disks an you will see his name. I got tired of messing with used parts and choose to go with baer.

Yes baers brakes will work with the factory abs. Expensive but, you will have a working parking brake setup and still retain abs.
