Ram-air LS1 Firebird

Well, my bike is getting some goodies on it, so I'm driving the Ty around that I sold to my brother. Coming home from the gf's house this morning, I spot a Firebird with it's turn signal on for like 5 miles. The guy finally turned it off and I noticed he was going for an open lane at the next light. Sure enough......he takes off....and I figure.....what the hell?

Now keep in mind that the truck isn't running all that well being parked and in desparate need of a tune up......

But he whoops the two 4 bangers in the other lanes. But lo and behold, I think he looked in his review........and here I am about 10 feet from his bumper keeping up with him. So once we hit 80 (on a 45 mph street mind you) I decided to back off. Then the gods must have smiled becaues I see a yellow up ahead. I pull up real quick, turn off the A/C and start spooling up. I only get a couple pounds of boost, but the light turned green and BOOM.......at least 2 car lengths.....as I could see the whole car in my rear view. I hear his tires squealing......I look again, and it's a damn RAM AIR! Bah.....so sure enough, he starts creeping up on me, but we're already at the next light, where I had to turn. I roll down my window and the only thing he could say was:

"If I could hook up, I'd eat the shit out of that thing"

Yeah..........well you didn't.

Anyhow, the way the truck is running, it's clear that he would have beat me if we kept going.....but at least he got to see the taillights of a Ty

I dont understand why everyone thinks that the "Ram-Air" Trans-ams are so much faster than the regular ones. The difference in power is negligable if any at all. At 60mph+ it might help the tiniest bit but not enough of a difference to even acknowlegde. When I bought my T/A I couldn't see spending an extra 3200 dollars for a hood/exhaust/17" rims with a little stiffer suspension. Good kill though. When I still had a 6spd in my car before I converted to the A3 I couldn't get off the line without lighting the tires up bad...even on nittos.
