Radio, lighter, lights dead

This morning I got in the Sy to drive home, and stuck my Nextel charger in the lighter socket, as I always do. I thought I heard a pop, and the lighter socket, radio and interior lights went dead. The instrument and outside lights all work still. I had to buy a flashlight from the gas station to check the fuses, and the Radio and Courtesy ones were still good, as were all the others (anything that I thought might be related) that I checked. Any other fuse I should specifically check? Any other locations for stuff to check?

Same thing happened to me while using an inverter plugged into the cig lighter to keep my lap top alive. Popped a fuse. Lemme finish my coffee and I'll go out to the garage and check out myclones fuse box to try and find which one it is...

Third fuse up from the bottom on the left (facing the fuse panel). Its a 20A fuse marked HORN/DM.

Prolly bout time for a new cig lighter socket as this seems to be a common prob on these trucks. I need to replace mine (been "getting around to that" for almost a year now LOL) as I can wiggle the cig lighter or anything plugged into it and blow that fuse. No radio for me which means I gotta sing.... Which means my passenger will want to get out and walk at that moment.

Yep it sounds like a fuse. The cigarette lighter socket is a problem on our trucks. Just replace it with a new one and swap out the fuse and you should be fine.

Thanks for the info. I thought I checked that one, but it's probably the only one I didn't.

I've never had a problem with the lighter before, and it seems like either Trish or I always have a phone charging, or I have my DM cable plugged in. I may have stuck it in at an angle though... My S-10's crapped out (luckily it has a second one down on the 4x4 console), but I've never had a problem with the Sy's and it looked really clean last I checked. If I do decide to replace it, can I just get a lighter from AutoZone or something, or do you have to buy the $7,000,000 one from the stealership?

And yeah, nothing like a two hour expressway drive without a radio to accentuate every squeak and rattle...

If the fuse checks good take your newly aquired flash light and look VERY closely at the terminals that the fuse actually plugs into.. Make sure they arent bent, corroded, or broken.. Voice of experience here

Nope, you were right the first time. I figured it was a fuse too, I just didn't find any that were blown. Apparently I checked the 49 others, but missed that one. All is well now.
