Radiator hose

Ok guy's I need help once again. For the second time in 2 weeks I have lost the upper radiator hose due to the alternator getting into it when I get on it hard. This morning it did it to me at work when I jumped on it hard for a guy that works next door. I'm thinking wrong hose? Can anyone give me the part number to the right hose that is supposed to be on it.

Sounds more like your motor mount is bad.

They are brand new. I just put a fresh motor in it 1000 miles ago.

I got one last week looking up a 91 Sonoma, and worked fine. Lower is specific, but the upper shouldn't be. You still have the stock fan shroud? It has a little arm that keeps the hose from getting too close to the alternator.

Can also try an engine tie-down to limit the movement or even pre-load the mounts. Even stock mounts in good condition can move quite a bit, there is a lot of torque being transmitted.

Easy way to tell if Motor Mount is bad. Open the hood, sit in truck, do a light and easy brake torque (one foot on brake and LIGHTLY tap the gas). You can see the intake between the hood and cowl. If the motor moves more than a 1/2 inch it's bad. :2cents:

At autozone, if you ask for a 91 Syclone upper hose, it is incorrect. You have to ask them for a 91 Sonoma 4.3 and it comes up correct.

This is how it should look:

If yours does look like that, I would go back and check your motor mounts even though they are "fresh". Bad mounts are the #1 cause of alternators eating the hose...there is no other reason.

If your alt is getting into the upper hose then the engine is moving. Have someone watch the engine. Then hold the brake down so the truck wont roll and then give it a little throttle.If the engine lifts then the motor mount is loose or broken.

Autozone's and Advance auto site shows the same part # for S-15 vs Sy. NAPA's site is down to triple check

Maybe AZ finally updated their database then. Do they still show CR43TS for the recommended plug? I dont know how many times I notified system admin of that error when I was a manager there in a previous life.

Of course they do. I mentioned it a couple times too, but it didnt seem to help things.

Although Advance Auto's site is no better for plugs

Yeah I still have it and it is in the arm but not very well. thanks for the part #'s

Yeah my hose looks lust like that one. Is there a different motor mount for the typhoon and a regular S-10 blazer?

My factory mounts did not move enough to get into my radiator hose so I would think somthing is not right there but I still use the tie down method to keep the engine from moving its alot easier to install than new mounts.
