After cruising along at highway speeds for a couple minutes, I can hear a rotational noise from the right front corner of the truck. It sounds BAD. After jacking it up, I could see where the right front axle had worked its way out of the housing and was hitting the frame. The noise was the six bolts hitting a tab on the frame rail.
After tearing the differential housing out and not seeing anything wrong, I replaced the front carrier bearings and a couple seals. I was going to replace the wire snap clip that holds the axle into the side gear in the diff, but replaced the whole axle shaft with a new one.
I drove the truck to work, and it's doing the same thing again. I ordered the axle tube in case it's bent, and I am in the process of replacing it.
Has any one seen this before??
Any ideas as to what else to look for??
Thanks in advance,
Scott
