Have you guys seen this? From the October 2003 issue of GMHTP under Rick Jensen’s editorial section entitled “Why GM High-Tech Performance?”:

“In a nutshell, GM High-Tech celebrates and enhances today’s high-tech muscle car. Big and bad Impala Sses that seat six and still snap your head back. LS6-, LS1-, LT1-, L98-, and LB9-powered Vettes and F-bodies that have carried the band-for-the-buck torch ever since 1985. Turbocharged, intercooled, all-wheel-drive Syclones and Typhoons that you definitely don’t want to meet at a stoplight.”

The last line has me rather confused. I’ve been a GMHTP subscriber for over two years now, and I can honestly not remember ever seeing any featured sytys being “celebrated” or any tech articles that would “enhance” the performance of my truck. Did I miss an issue perhaps? I’ve seen a Ty or 2 scattered about in the “Street Heat” section on rare occasions, but that’s about it. Not trying to blast GMHTP, just curious if I have in fact missed something. If not, I think Jensen’s description of the mag is rather inaccurate, no?

BTW, if you’re wondering why you didn’t get a copy of Oct’s issue in the mail, it’s b/c it was only available as a promo issue.

It's because Jim McIllvane (Former NBA player) lurks on this board. Occasionally He'll post and then we'll flame him and then he'll post again then eventually Jimmy ends up posting a picture of Shaq dunking on him.

It's a love / hate affair....we love picking on GMHTP because they hate printng black vehicles...yet again and again they print GN's

It's nice to know I'll always have a special place in one of Jimmy's files :)

Rick is a new editor and if I were you guys, I'd give him a chance and see what happens. He may surprise you.

I've got a story idea for ya...

US Military Members and their American Performance vehicles in Germany. Come over here, I'll arrange a race day at Nurburgring and I'll hook you up with the local corvette club as they blast between K-town & Heidleburg @ speeds well over 175mph.

Ooh, ooh, or give Brian Hartman a free flight over here and do a real 4L60 rebuild tech session on my transmission! Now THAT would be nice. And besides, only panzy officers buy corvettes over here. Your an exception Sigo :p

Seriously though, you should check out www.osl-racing.de . The same guys 1on1-motorsports.de have a better page on Bitburg airfield. You can even see my friends 12 sec Lightning and there is a firehawk that runs lebens. They put on a decent 1/4 mile get together at Bitburg about twice a month. About 95% of the participants are in the military and you'll find everything from a few Z06s to a GN here and there.

Ryan,

In the October 2003 Sport Truck mag they talked of doing a special article dedicated to the people serving in the military. Talked about doing some special features and such. I thought of you as it might be a chance for getting some SyTy coverage.

Dam Jim, you only played in the NBA for 2 years and made 24 million, why only 2 years, injurys?

Must have been fun , did you always have girls wanting to come up to your hotel room or what, kinda like Kobe, but thats another story.

Plays well with others
Jim,

You only played for 2 years? I know some guys that played over in Europe after their NBA Bench career fizzled.....or didn't materialize.

Small market specialty magazines are driven as much by their advertisers&suppliers of parts for their "project vehicles" as by what the consumer wants to see.

Sy/Ty =small percentage of subscription sales, and probably 0% advertising revenue.

So, even though they are the quickest trucks ever....all we get is a token mention, now and again.

Jim, break the mold.
Why not buy a Typhoon? I am sure you could fit into one, and your progress with various upgrades would be interesting reading for many.
Keep in mind that this BBS is an amazing resource, with very experienced and knowledgeable people.

People on this board have got Sy's into the 11's,10's, and even 9's with AWD. And those are impressive #'s, regardless of what "High Tech GM vehicle" your subscribers and advertisers/suppliers currently favor.

As far as what the new editor will surprise us with...I check out every issue, and buy the occasional one with an interesting GN...and every one with a Sy/Ty.
