Questions about wastegate and boost controller

I'm still figuring stuff out with the truck and I guess I have a manual boost controller in the center console, and a delta wastegate on the X-over. The PSI is maxing at about 20 currently, but how am I sure that my wastegate is working correctly? I'm not sure 100% how the wastegate works aside from blowing off excess pressure at whatever PSI they are set to. The gauge on the boost controller says 17psi. Where does this boost controller inside the console fit into the picture?

Sounds like an electric boost controler for you external wastegate. The contorler should have a vac line running to it, as well as some wires that go to some kind of selenoid in the engine bay somewhere. 20#'s is kind of high for DD a truck might want to turn it down a little for a little peace of mind.

(if it is not electronic, sould have 2 vac lines running to it one in one out, and some type of spring or control you can adjust boost with)

Now there may be diff types, this is just what i know and have/had.

Thanks for the reply, the boost controller is exactly like the second one you mentioned. There is a vacuum line running into and out of it and there is a gauge with a round knob to control the setting. How does changing this setting on it affect the wastegate?

Also, this is more of a weekend driver than a DD.
