Question on an engine

I want to rebuild my engine on my Typhoon. Now, I just read that I could use a z block from another truck that is not turbo. It sounds great cause I can get one from the junk yard for like a $100.00 bucks or so. Now the heads are my only real concern meaning c/r . should I rebuild the bottom end and then put my heads on the other block or can I use the same heads? I also want to oversize the pistons and maybe lower compresion to run more boost. IS this a good Idea? I still have the stock turbo and of course will upgrade later. Thanks in advance for any help

all the heads from that vintage are the same. but the one element you will be missing in a stock GM (non syty )block is the main caps. the stock syty caps are much stronger than a standard 4.3 so you could get a 4.3 but you'll need to replace the caps with steel or find some original syty caps.

Can someone provide a picture of the stock SyTy block's main caps?

I believe my block has been replaced, and the caps are identical to those from a 88 4.3 block I have. Im just curious if the caps are specific to the SyTy block as you say, or if the engine was rebuilt with weaker caps when it was under warrenty.

Thanks,
Seth.
