PTE Performance

It seems that alot guys got their kit from PTE, but I haven't heard a single word about the hugh performance increase. Has anyone installed the Kit and ran a test or two, even a G-tech run?

From what I've gathered from the regal site you need alot of converter and big boost to see REAL improvements over stock. Well, if anyone's got some new performance numbers I'd like to hear about them.

there are so many turbo options its hard to say. I have done several 57mm pTE kits here on customer cars, and they pick up quiet well with a 3000 stall. The te44 is recommended for stock stall, and I personally havent been in a car set up with that turbo.

Bigger turbo, better performance?

Unfortuately as soon as I installed my PTE setup the local track closed for the season. I only have seat of the pants observations to go by. Per Diacom data, it spools up much quicker than the stock or 20g-14cm2 (I went from a stock to a 20g to the pte with te60 in about 6 months). Works fine with 2800 stall, ultimate and stock injectors (had same setup with last two turbos). Since I am using pump gas, have not turned boost up over 16lbs. Also have not tried to run the truck with open exhaust yet. Like anything new, will have to test and tune at track to see real results. I can not compare PTE's setup to KB or ATR or anybody elses.

My expectations: I would be very, very happy if the Ty ran mid-twelves in the quarter. But that's me.

In my opinion, worth the price (I was one of the first to order in 10/00 and got the original introductory price from PTE).

Speaking of the PTE setup, how goes the 50's programming for the Ultimate? Especially the program for the 44 on Opie's truck hint hint...

I got the pte 51,before on my stock setup(turbo, ic, tc) my best was 13.3. Now after the pte 51, BG 3000 stall tc, 3 bar chip, msd6al, 255 in tank pump, afp , my best now is 13.5.
Can someone PLEASE help me out here and check out datamaster files.

I didn't buy the PTE combo that they have, but I did a similar one over the summer. I have a PTE-52 with an .83 housing, 9/11 2800 stall TC, ATR DP, ATR exhaust w/ no CAT, Turbonetics external Racegate (mounted on x-over tube), KB A/A IC, and I ran my best of a 12.9 at 103 with a 1.79 60'. I have been running an old ATR pitbull chip, which really only raises the speed limitor and I believe fuel cut. So it's more or less a stock chip. When I ran that at the track I was running 116 race gas with about 23-24#'s of boost. Also, my engine is completely stock. 84K miles, engine has never been opened, stock head, headers, cam, and all internals. I also have a stock tranny, which has never been rebuilt. I'm going to DFI and 50# inectors over the winter, and hoping to run consistant 12.5's next season. If you have any more questions let me know, here's my e-mail

Mits turbos are pretty wimpy, I know a few guys that ran pretty well with the 20G, but those guys claim it's all driver.

I have the PTE system (NOT INSTALLED YET), with a TE-44 turbo, and I have most of the same mods as NASTY, with the exception of the external wastegate. I do have the ATR IC, and dual SPAL fans on the lower IC.

I'm wondering if I should have gotten a larger turbo, like NASTY.

Mike:

I only ran the 20g-14cm2 turbo for about 500 miles or so. There are others on this board that have a lot of experience with the 20g. In my opinion, whatever it's worth, the 20g-14cm2 turbo is very good but fairly expensive. "Easy" to install. Looks about same as stock turbo. Probably will cut half second from quarter mile time. Need higher stall converter and fuel pressure set in high 50's. I ran with a saudi resonator in place of the cat. Spool up seemed to be slower than I would have liked, but really didn't spend time necessary to tune it right.
