PTE down pipe rubbing frame.

Anybody here have this problem ? Just installed pte kit and I can not keep the down pipe off the frame. Also just got my atr cat back and it steps down to fit stock cat. Anybody just cutting this off and clamping a 3' pipe in place. Going from 3 'down to that back to 3' sucks.

Thanks,

You might holler at ERUE since he had the same prob. I think he took it to an exhaust shop and had them tweak the DP to clear the frame but he didnt really go into detail when he told me about it.

My DP rubs also, very little though, I'm sure if I hit a bump in the road or something it bumps a little more. I didn't worry about it, that's just me though.

Thanks,

Before you start tweeking or hacking up your PTE dp, try to fit everything loosely before tightening the clamps down. It just needs adjusting. It will fit nice, once it's adjusted correctly.

I agree, mine hit slightly on the frame rail and induced false knock.. I loosened everything up and repositioned it. Knock was ZERO from then on out and no more hitting req'd.

actually....... here is the short story on mine.

i choped those neck downs off, and used a short piece with those sealing band type clamps, and i had a problem with it wanting to sit on the frame. i would move it anf tighten everything down, and a day later it would be sitting on the frame again.

took it to a muffler shop to see if they could do better. they yanked out my short piece and the other two pieces the i had cut the neckdown off of. they replaced my three pieces with one long straight 3" piece of stainless, and clamped it in place. after they did this everything lined up perfectly, and they didnt have to adjust the dp at all.

so basically...... i think in order to keep the DP off the frame you need the support of a somewhat rigid exhaust. its still really tight, but its not touching. i have about 1/8" clearance.
