Prpshfts.-What to buy?

What propshaft would you guys recommend I purchase? I know of 3 shafts available for our trucks: Napa, Dynotech, and Brandon. I had web-link for Napa's propshaft, http://www.usfinancialservice.com, but it's not loading. So, I don't know the Napa part # or what the Napa shaft looks like (I'd imagine it resembles the original). Read good things in the past 'bout Dynotech shafts. I have all the 411 for ordering and shipping for Dynotech. And, Brandon makes a heavy duty shaft w.o. the double cardan joint. Were SyTy's built w/ a double cardan jointed propshaft for a reason? Can anyone give advise (disadvan/advans) 'bout these 3 shafts? I'm also buying custom made safety U loops, and replacing the torx bolts w/ hex head bolts.

Well trying to bring your post back and try to answer correctly!!!But read on here when I went to buy mine was the double cardean joint was designed for lifted off road package trucks so as long as your not muddin you should be alright....that is why brandons has deleted it so to have a stronger and more durable shaft...If you can't tell I have one of brandons and will be installing very soon...He is a great guy!!!

Al Dustan was talking about an aluminium propshaft some times ago. I also need one in the near future, so I hope it will be avaiable soon. It should be lighter.

My thoughts...

I know of another owner who has tried to have new shafts built and has had pretty crappy luck in doing so. But, it has been using the double cardigan :smile: joint. Brandon's sounds like it is the way to go. He is a fellow owner with a pretty fast truck. I am sure of you send him a message he will be happy to assist you. I know there are a few others running his propshaft and will probably speak up if it is a piece. Anyone????

i have a propshaft from NAPA.it looks to be very strong.my truck won't make enough HP to ever tear it up though.you would be happy with it i believe.

I've heard that the NAPA's one are noisy at high speed. Any experience? What about the others?

I see on Rick's site (RKKustom) that ATR peddles an aluminum driveshaft. Anyone have any experience with it? I'm also interested in an aluminum rear driveshaft, but never see any mention of them. I'll do a thorough search later today also, but any help would be appreciated.

I tried the NAPA and had zero luck with it. Serious vibration. Indexed it many many times and the best I could get was this gallop kinda vibration. I ended up just getting one from Dynotech. No vibrations. IMHO the aggrivation of waiting 2 weeks on the part, taking out the old one, indexing the new one all those times (you know how FUN it is taking the bolts out over and over) and then taking it back to get my money back because it was another 2 weeks on the next one is definitely NOT worth the money "saved" by going with the NAPA. Like I said, JMHO.

does the napa shaft make any sort of vibriation at all??? does it look like the original one???

My post above tells my experience only. 20 other people may have excellent luck with the NAPA shaft. I'm sticking with Dynotech because I have experienced consistency with their product. The NAPA has omitted the CV joint on the differetial end and the u-joints on the other end had zerks fittings as well as the little press in circular fitting that you need the grease gun adapter to lube the rear prop joint centering ball in the double cardan. Something I noticed when trying to install my NAPA shaft was that it would NOT slide over the round raised centering plate on the adapter for the front. It fit very tight and had to litterally be pulled on equally with the bolts. The dynotech fit on just like it is supposed to. I haven't seen it but I'm sure Brandon's would fit better than the NAPA.

both of my trucks have the Dynotech's in them never a problem I've also tried having old ones rebuilt ,with no LUCK! I almost spit one out the vib was so bad the bolts unthreaded!! barley caught it, in any event get one of phil Chevers loops, he's a great guy to work with!!

I have one of Brandon's (MadPSI) propshafts in my truck. No vibrations so far up to 80mph (havent went faster yet since i just drove it for the first time today). Some trucks MAY have a clearance issue with the shaft and the tranny shift lever (like mine), so the die grinder was needed to grind down a weld on the shaft that was pretty beefy. A quality product for a fair price. Good guy to deal with too.
