Re: proportioning valve

Has anyone done this mod yet. I have the ls1 rear brakes done and this winter I want to fix the proportioning for the brakes. I would prefer to use the stock valve if its possible otherwise I will have to go the aftermarket route.

bringing up an old thread...

Has anyone modified their stock proportioning/combination valve for when you have disc/disc brakes?

Re: proportioning vavle

This intrigued me. I found the ImpalaSS site. Did a search ("proportioning valve" in the Brake Forum) on there, and came up with a thing that seems to be common-knowledge with Impalas is "Brake Bolt Mod". I've never heard of this.

Here's a couple of links. Interesting reading.

Here's an old post. 1998. The P/n for the vale is NLA. But explains the valve mod in more detail.

Thanks, Jolly Green for the tip.

Has anyone done this? Better question, where can I buy the parts to do this?

Re: Proportioning valve

I did these mods on my Impala SS and it was night and day different...

What I did on the Syclone was take a 3rd gen Camaro 1le proportioning valve and swap the guts from the Camaro one to my Syclone one... The insides were slightly different and the 1le one was made for 4 wheel disc brakes.. It should work... We'll see soon I guess... If it doesn't, then I will do the mods in the same manner as the Impala SS was done..

See ya,

I did this to the Ty. Take the "bleeder" off. Remove the spring and valve. Thread the bleeder with a tap and install a screw.

Did you take any pics by any chance? I want to do this mod since I have to replace the front brake line anyways.

I did take some pictures but I cant seem to find them. Very easy to do. I think I used a #8 screw for mine.

I'll hit up some junkyards soon, they always have this Camaros out there. I'll try that first.

This is what I ended up doing on my jimmy, works fine. Then added an adjustable valve for the rears.
