for $100 shipped you can have my dynotech propshaft in excellent condition.
as far as not have a propshaft just try not to get to stupid with launching and such.

No burnouts. Absolutely NO burnouts. Also, USE YOUR PARKING BRAKE. Without the front driveshaft in place, you get NO shear on the viscous clutch in the transfer case and the truck WILL ROLL....down a hill, across a parking lot, into your dad's car, etc.
I recommend a Gilbert. I have them. The ones I supply have a seal and the bolts.
There is a lot of info on them in my vender's forum. Even if you don't buy a Gilbert from me, get the seal and replace it or the new yoke will leak.

Take a look at the stock propshaft next to the Gilbert and you decide:

With the Gilbert, the transmission range select lever has to be cut and rewelded due to the girth of the shaft. It also has ZERK fittings so that you can grease it on the truck. These propshafts have been on several high HP trucks for several years now and NO ONE has ever broken one. If you decided to retain the stock propshaft, you won't need to replace the seal unless yours is leaking. It has to be replaced with a Gilbert because the Gilbert does away with the stock mount flange and replaces it with a yoke.

obviously the gilbert is stronger. dynotech is ready to be popped in. in great condition. previous owner did a best of 12.6 with 1.7 60ft using this propshaft:tup:

The launches are what kills all of them. When you brake torque the truck, your truck will load and lift up. It does this because the driveline is stressed and then you give it full throttle as the brake is released. If you just play a couple times a month, the Dynotech setup will be fine. If you broke your old shaft doing boost launch after boost launch, you can get the Dynotech, but I would really really recommend getting a driveshaft loop to surround the double cardan joint in the back where it breaks.

Yup, that and improper maintenance. Any stock style propshaft requires you to remove if from the truck to lubricate it. By the time that you buy a propshaft and a Phil Chivers safety loop, you will be close to half the price of a Gilbert and you won't have to worry about it again.
My new creed with these trucks is "Fix it cheap if you don't plan to keep it, fix it right if you do".

Sorry for going off topic.. George, why is it so bad to do a burnout with the front propshaft out? I have read guys running hundreds of miles without one, then putting it back on and its fine... I'm just curious, because I had mine out for 2 days and did about 50 miles and 1 burnout.... it still works great (been about a year later and about 2k miles since) but I want to know if I just got lucky..

The way the viscous clutch in the transfer case works is by heating up when there is a difference between the front wheel spinning and the rear wheels spinning. This heats up the viscous fluid in a sealed container and makes the steels in the container "push" together providing more hold. The higher the heat the closer to "hump" or solid lockup. Solid lockup is bad. There is an air gap in the viscous housing to account for some fluid expansion but it can only go so far. 2 things happen. You either lock the clutches in the viscous clutch up and get the "hopping" in tight turns because the viscous won't release. Or you get a big ol kaboom and blow the side out of the viscous clutch. $600 for a replacement viscous alone. Everyone's driving habits are different. Just because one guy drives 6 months doesn't mean another can do the same.
