prop shaft boot torn

Just taking a look at the prop shaft and the boot is torn.Is this ok or is time to replace it has good bit of time on it.Also at the back of the transfer case, there is alot of fluid coming out of the two square alien bolts,and they seem tight

you need to take your poopshaft out and have that boot fixed before you do damage to that joint and you really have to spend money to fix it

Is it easy enough for me to do,or does someone else need to do this. And where do i need to get a new boot from.

Thanks for the info. If you dont mind answering another question for me Jwaller, are those L35 heads 1FST6IX has for sale worth getting and doing up,or would it better to do the vortec ones .I just dont feel like having to do the hole convertion thing.The L35's are just a bolt on thing wright.

I'm about to change out the torn boot on my stock prop shaft with a new one. What kind special tool do you need to take the front of the prop shaft apart where the boot goes?

Ive never needed any special tools and Ive replaced 3 of them for people :dunno:

holy old post..... but ya I thought you needed a special too to seat the boot to the outerportion of the flange on the sy propshafts probably wrong as morgon thinks but I don't use the stockers anymore and haven't messed with them in a while.

wow, I didnt look at anything put the last post in terms of date :rotf:

perhaps the old ones did, but the Napa boots come with an O-ring that goes on the outer cup and then I use a flat punch and put some tangs in the metal ring on the boot like the original had to keep it from sliding off the cup. Seems to have worked so far anyway ::crosses fingers:: :lol:

Do you know what the part # for the boot you got from Napa was?

yeah, its in another thread(s) on here, probably in the first few pages if you dont feel like searching for it, you can find it just as easily as I can :tup:

How do you take both joints apart where the bearings are at?
