Frank,

Does the sub enclose stop the seat from going all the way back? Do you you have to forfeit leg room? Being 6"5 I already have my seat back as far as possible and dont want to lose any space but I'm liking the setup ur building and want possible the same thing for my truck. Your work is amazing and hopefully you won't mind showing it off in another local Syclone

I here ya! I'm 6.1 so I did make sure the seat went back all the way. There is even about a half inch of clearance between the sub and the seat so your not getting punished by the movement of the sub. I have the door panels mounted on the door cards and the sub enclosure is out for paint. I should have it done completely on Thursday. So far it looks amazing. I'm hoping it sounds the same.. I'd love to do another it's been a fun project thus far.

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

The MB Quart speakers im using in the kicks are the old QSD components. I dont know if you have ever heard them but they are amazing. They were over a 1000 bucks a set when they came out in the late 90s..

can I come lick them, and how many spare sets you got?

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

Well here are some more progress pics. Over the last few days i smoothed out the sub enclosure and painted it. I also decided to paint the door lock and power window bezel to match. Door panels got shot black and i installed passanger door card back on the truck. Ive also decided to use ans Audio Control 6xs to Actively cross over the hole system. This will let me band pass the door mid bass drivers. 90hz down on the subs 90hz to 250hz on the doors and 250hz and up on the Mb quarts in the kick. I just dont know where to put the crossover. Might have to build something in the glove box or center console.

Tons of filler to make it smooth.

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

Looks great Frank.

Do you paint in house or have a local body shop do them for you?

I'm interested to see what you do in the dash.

Nice work,
Nick

I paint some stuff at the shop. However i painted these in a friends shop with a downdraft booth.

I was going to install an I pad in the dash. But i think i might wait for Alpines new 8" double din AV unit. This thing is huge.. Not shipping until end of June. For now i might just use a basic Alpine deck with Streaming built in.

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

Looks great frank. I like how you did the door pull surround too. Nice touch.

Thanks i was trying to tie it all together. I forgot about the power window switch plate. Im thinking i have to get those scuffed and shot. Might do the dash vent on drivers and passenger side.

OMG i just remembered you wanted a Pioneer APP unit. I totally forgot man.. You still want a price?? i will pm it to you.

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

Have her almost back together. Finished of the door panels bolted in the kick pods. Ran all the wiring and installed the sub enclosure. I mounted the amps and wired them up. Fired up the system it all seems to work just need to give it a tune after the rest of the interior is back in.

Re: Project sounds good Syclone!!

Its done for now. I will be adding a Audio Control 6xs crossover next week. For now im using the built in crossovers in the amp and deck to get it done. It works but it will be better with the 6xs. Im also going to wrap the switch plates on the doors in carbon fiber.
Im very impressed wit the sound. Its pretty much what i was looking for the bass is incredible. Alpine did a great job building a sub that works in such a small space. It can take your breath away at high volumes.

I will be swapping out the single din cd player for a 8" Alpine navi. Is a industry first 8" screen. Its not going to be released until June and will take some fiber glassing to get it in the dash.

For now here are the finished pics.
