So I've noticed that most people like to lower thier trucks. However the level of drop is typically a topic of debate.......So, I'm starting a poll to see how far the average person has dropped his/her truck. Assume that the numbers are for a front/rear drop......I know Ty's require a bit more drop in the rear to level out, and Sy's don't require as much to look equally as low.

Thanks for the participation.

my experience has been the opposite of that...i installed 2" lowering blocks on both the sy and my 92 ty and the sy sits 1 3/4" higher in back....

Coilovers for me and I am just guessing at 2"/3"

The rear has settled down a bit since installing the new Bell Tech leafs.
At first I didn't think they dropped it much at all. But over time they settle in.

I have dropped the front until the tires were 1/4" from the cladding but didn't have the nuts to drive it like that.

Mine is 4x4 stock.I doubt it could get on a flatbed if I lowered it.

I went with the 1/1 after I brought the truck. It was a 1/2 and I didn't like the ride.

I came up through mini trucks.
Mostly static drop trucks that would hang up on speed bumps.
We would run zero bumps stops.

Back then I had visions of building my 2.5L 88 2wd w/solid side shell into a Sy-Clone.
And it looked something like this.
Sy_on_Airbags_001.sized.jpg

I think the airbagged Sy owner is a member here now.
Nice truck, I would be somewhat hesitant to launch it on that setup, but it sure looks sweet.
The owner should post a thread on the install, I'd like to see how they are running all the lines and bag placement.

Nowadays I am more about the performance aspect.
Drop always = good in my book

mine is done 1 5/8" in the rear. The 2" blocks were too low for my taste and made the ride too hard so I milled 3/8" off to lift it up a bit. The front is lowered a little more to give it a nice rake.

I think the problem with this poll is nobody really knows where there truck is supposed to sit. Mine both have 2.5" blocks in the rear and the fronts slightly lower. The Sy I removed a leaf to get it to sit as low as the TY. Maybe we can do another poll *what is the measurement from the ground to the bottom of the fender arch's at the center of the wheel* This measurement and how you got to it would give a better idea for a novice lowerer (is that a word?) of how and what he would need to do to get to his/hers desired height. :2cents:

Re: Preferred Ride Height Pole......

My truck has like a 2/2 i think. Not sure on the front though, I had the bolts almost all the way out, but the tires would slam the cladding and bumpstops on hard bumps. The rear has 2" blocks and it is harsh.

I have raised the front of the truck back to a stock level, looked sick. Like it was launching just sitting still.

Here is scrapn'clone's pic.

I see you kept the torsion bar. That is why i was confused as there really is no way to put a bag directly on the lower arm. Did you put stiffer arms on it or are you just using the bags to drop it when you park?

Just bags to drop when parked I have pics of the crossmember out of the truck(jus pulled it for a complete rebuild of the front suspension)the truck launches pretty good with the sway bar but had to take it off for testing(HANDLING SUCKS WITHOUT)working on a new swaybar for use with the bag kit to let the truck drop to the frame
