Been searching around, not having any luck.

Does any one know where you can buy QUALITY precut tint kits online? I dont want cheap shit that is going to turn purple on me. I can find the kits easy enough, but of course they dont mention what brand tint you are getting.

Thanks but no thanks. I have to peel off the old tint and Im not paying hundreds of dollars to someone when I am fully capable of doing it myself.

The tint on the truck started out not purple and has turned over over time, it did not start out purple, I assure you. I'll more than happy to take a nice pic of the door windows where the glass was rolled up into the seam and didnt get sun exposure and is still the gray color, while the rest that was exposed has turned purple.

The link I posted about doesnt provide pre-cut kits for the S-15 body style unfortunately, so the search continues.

I bought a couple rolls of %20 from Canadian tire. I admit it can be a PITA to deal with peeling the clear plastic off and fitting it to the window but the key thing is to keep soaking the crap out of the window/tint with the special solution to make sure it goes on smooth and using the expensive tools instead of the credit card looking thing. If you have patience and determination, it's very doble as you said. If someones going to do it might as well be you! I also managed to make up a fat 2 peice visor, the rear veiw mirror hides the flaws where it meets in the middle:tup:
Its been on for about a year, and still no signs of purple. Then again you get way more sun heat then we do;)

warm water with 3 drops of baby soap in A 24 oz. bottle works perfect.

I gave good quality tint away at Nats. here is the Ebay link to the guys, really nice guys also. I have it on mine & vary happy with it.

Were these the guys who were going to help sponsor Nats? (based in Kentucky or Indiana?) If so, I ordered a set for my Outback and felt the pieces were cut too short all the way around. I still applied it ('cause it was mid-summer), and should've written them about the problem, but never got around to it. It was short on the edges by a good inch.

Re: Pre-cut window tint

Hmm...actually found a place local to me down the road. Claims they use Llumar tint for their precut kits. Threw them an email to see whats up.

http://www.floridacustomtinting.com/default.asp

So originally they said they dont have precut kits for the truck. I wrote them back thanking them but also asked reluctantly if they knew who did as I didnt want to take away business from them.

Not sure if the orig person who wrote me saying they dont have it was confused or whatnot, but I got another email back saying that they do actually carry it.

$109 reg price, $99 on sale right now, Llumar film. Bit more than I was expecting, but then I guess I want good stuff, so it comes with a price.

Somewhat debating to bring the truck by and let them take a look to see what cost would be for them to actualy do it. If it comes in at under $200 for them to yank the old crap off and apply the new, may just change my mind and have them do it instead I guess. Let them sweat and bust their ass... I'll watch.

My guy will do complete quality tint, he's an artist. $110-130 includes stripping the old stuff. He did my Sy and Ty, Alains red/red, all my other cars and just did the Bravada this morning.

Mobile, or do I have to bring it to him? I'll do it at the Jan meet.

Yea, if you're already paying $100 for the film, most shops will do good work for $150 or less.

Had the S10 tinted back in December '99 when I bought it, paid $125 to have 3 windows, and the windshield strip put on. 5% all around. Still as black as the day I brought it home.

BE SURE to use AMMONIA-FREE window cleaner. Ammonia will break down the adhesive in the tint very quickly, and is usually the cause of the "purpling" effect on most cars.
