Its so rare and just would hate to see it go somewhere where its not properly maintained....just cause its expensive doesn't mean some idiot won't get their hands on it.

funny, I was thinking the exact same thing.... but then I was thinking about the headaches of ownership later on, lol

It would be complicated. Ideally, we would set up a corporation to purchase the thing and a detailed letter of agreement between the "partners", including rights to sell ownership shares, repairs, and housing issues..

If it doesn't sell on eBay, we should think about it. I'm thinking SIX people could do it.

So far:

Re: PPG on eBay

Since it is iconic for this brand, are there traveling collections that it could attend meets/conventions? In the best situation it could generate some interest in these trucks and increase the value a little or could mean nothing to any traveling collections. Just throwing this out there thinking if it would have some financial gain for the partners or community while attempting to maintain its condition.

It also could become the Syclone fanny pack and travel to various regional Sy/Ty meetings and of course nationals.

I don't know "Adam" but wish this sale was vetted here first then through auction.

Re: PPG on eBay

Why does it list the vehicle title as "salvage"?
Long story made short.....Michael Jordan owned this truck in 1997 and had driven it to the Bulls gym one day in August for team practice. I was there teaching some of the guys some moves and Jordan asked me if I wanted to play 1-on-1. Knowing how much he loves to gamble and how much I love SyTys, we bet that I'd get to drive the truck if I won (he would get to say he beat me if he won - I was kind of a big deal back then). Anywho, I beat him 21-9 and we went for a spin. Lost control at a buck-eighty when a cat ran out in front of us and I hit a lightpole with the back end. Jordan was cool about it and paid for all the repairs, but the truck got the salvage title and he sold it back to GM shortly thereafter.

Most people don't know about this....

Unfortunately though, fanny went AWOL a few months back and hasn't been heard from since...If that happened with the PPG, it would be WW3!

Re: PPG on eBay

can it even be made street legal? I thought flapjacks was always talking about how it's a something or other that can be tagged.

:rotf: A buck eighty?? There's where your story falls apart.

Or it could be that it's a heavily modified one-off once owned by a manufacturer, never intended for use on the street or production, and like many "proto-types" is somehow protected by a salvage title.

I think alot of the vehicles that came out of the GM Museum had a scrap title as most were prototypes or pre-production cars. This was not obviously but maybe because of the strobes and fuel system modifications they just scrapped the title.

Re: PPG on eBay

I would love to buy it or any of the trucks from John collection. He is actually selling everything and soon one of the Marlboro's should be on the block along with the last Typhoon & Syborg.

I've considered buying Syborg back but timing just isn't right. Wife has started her own consulting company.

I wish I could toss some money at it, but unfortunately like Marty, timing is not great for me either. Im still working on the 3500 sq ft. addition on my house, plus im getting married in July.... I wish I could be a part of it, but its just not in the cards right now :(
