I'm pretty sure i found my severe knock problem causing the timing to retard up to 9-12*. I dropped my trans last night for a rebuild and found my fuel lines loose at the rear of the block, possible tapping the block 2" from KS. The return line had rubbed a small hole in it from hitting the floor board on top of the trans. I'm going with SS lines and -AN fiting from filter to engine before i put my trans back in.
Just somehting to think about if you have knock problem, could be from not secured fuel lines, they run 2" from KS very close to the block. Possible causing some phantom knock and timing would be retard, just my $0.02
