Poly mount question that has nothing to do w/installation

Just fired the Sy up after a long time and among other things, the installation of poly engine and trans mounts. I noticed though that I can sure feel the motor alot more when in the truck. It's not annoying, or aproblem so much, it just feels different.
But it makes me wonder if during the trans install/removal and engine/mount alignment I didn't line something up and it's causing that different feel from being out of balance, or rubbing.
Did you other guys with poly mounts notice this too? Or do I have to find out what's not right(I double checked everything b-4 I started it up already).

I didn't hardly notice anything. Actually was better with poly. Then again I did alot of fixing at the same time of installing mounts.

It has been my experience that the GM V6 evenfire is a rough idling motor. Then when you add the Poly mounts, it feels that much more noticeable. Then you've added the Poly tranny mount, which adds to the "feeling". I believe this is why GM came out with the same motor, but with a balance shaft.

I'm no expert, but I've read that for street usage, not to use the Poly tranny mount if you use the Poly motor mounts.......... leave some availability for movement in the engine/tranny. For strip only, disregard.

I don't believe there's anything unusual about what is going on with your setup.

Roland,

I heard the same thing about the Poly Mounts on the GN - don't do both. So far I have only done the engine ones on my GN and see no problem.

I'm doing the Poly engine mounts that Guy Reffet sold a few years ago on My Ty. They look a bit thinner than the stock ones, so I'm wondering if the engine will sit lower and tend to have more 3" DP fit problems ?

Our Trans mount is huge, so I guess I will go back w the stock one initially to see how it rides. These trucks R rough enuf as it is.

Lynn;

If your just comparing the old/new frame mounts by themselves, that's not gonna tell ya much. It's the new frame/motor mounts bolted together, and the stockers bolted together for a comparison.

Too low, or too high will cause fitment problems with DP, Xover, etc. I can say for a fact that Jeff Scott's mounts are perfectly matched height wise... (well, they are now) I measured on Richard Le's new motored Ty with Poly, and my stocker Ty with originals. Both measured the same from the top of the dist. cap to the water ledge of the cowl.

i dont know what you guys are talking about.

i have the poly motor mounts and tranny mount. i even have a lumpy cam, and i still dont think there is excessive vibration in the cab.

I started with the poly cab mounts. Then when I put everything back together I used the poly trans & motor mounts.
I noticed a significant increase in the interior cab noise and vibration feel from the motor when I added the tranny & motor mounts.
Not that I hate all of those features, but with all the extra noise and vibration, it really starts to wear on you during a long drive.

I just went back to stock mounts, couldn't stand the noise. I hope the stock mounts and a good tie down will hold.
