PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

Can someone explain to me why the 92 is so much more wanted than the 93?? I know some signature things like the seats and such but what really makes them different than that??

Is there any difference in the power train???

And while we are here, what really makes a Sonoma GT so sought after??

Thanks

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

Most people want the 93's for the far superior looks and leather interior. Have you seen the door handle thingies on a 92, I mean really....

but to seriously answer your question, there are not any drive train differences. It is the first model year, but the 93 is the last so who really knows. It is a lot of little differences, nothing significant in my opinion.

Differences

The debate on the two will never end. There are many pros and cons to each year. The 92s are considered by many to be a "True Typhoon" as where the 93s are leftovers. Main reason for this comes down to the interior.....93s interior has off the shelf SLT Jimmy stuff. If I was to have bought one new and paid $30K, give or take a few $$, it better not have off the shelf stock Jimmy interior in it. Its like buying a Corvette with Cavalier seats.....

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

the 92 vs 93 thing is a matter only of preference / jealousy. From what I can tell there is no real value difference. The power-trains are no different, regardless of other sites claiming the 93's are slightly faster. Only differences are seats, and door handle guard things that no one likes (basically). there were roughly as many 92's as 93's made. I guess the big thing is seats, people swear up and down that their year trucks seats are better. I have the 93's and I love them, I've sat in 92's and they're cool to, but they really aren't anything special. you will see on this site people making fun of each other, but none of that is 'real'. As far as the sonoma gt, other than being rare and the body kit I have no idea why anyone would want one, other than just the thrill of having a rare s-10 with a cool syty body kit.

LOL their is only handful of people that think 92 are the only true Typhoon :rotf: One could argue 92 Typhoon are the middle child with the first being Syclone, the last being 93 Ty's. The book value currently show 93 Ty as being slightly higher and this has been the trend as far back as I can remember. IMO 92's have the seats going for them and 93 have a few refinements.

92's have grand national motors and 93's had corvette motors. Other than that there pretty much the same.

You can exercise ur hands wit the lumbar pump thingy wit the 92, this means that 92 owners are more active and rather do something themselvs rather than to just push a button and be fat and lazy, too damn lazy to even wipe, same goes for the seat position options.

Re: PLEASE EXPLAIN......92 vs 93

you guys are all wrong... the syclone had the grand national motor, the 92 typhoon had the corvette motor, and the 93 had the 454. Which is why the 93 is more sought after.

Geez, don't you guys read any of the comments on youtube videos? They're full of accurate information!

in all seriousness, i went for the 92 because the silver decals look better than the gold, the grilles from 92 look better plus they have the black grille letters, and of course the seats are better!

You guys with the 93s can keep the power seat and the overhead console. I had those same seats and overhead console in my 94 blazer... I never used the overhead console except to stash napkins and forks for when the geniuses at the drive thru would forget... Personally i think the 92 seats are more comfortable and the side bolsters hold you in place better when you take freeway on ramps at 80 :D
