Pinion Angle

On a Ty is the wedge on top of the leaf spring removable without taking the bolt out of the leaf pack? My lowering block has the angle built in so I want to remove the stock one, I'm just wondering what it takes to remove the stock wedge before I disable the truck.

Ok, trying to recall here... been a while.

Aren't the angle wedges bolted together with the springs?

I recall having to use vise grips and some curse words to unbolt that mess, then getting some allen head bolts to clamp the springs back together to use with angle blocks. I could be getting senile as well, so take the info for what it's worth.

I just finished this same task using the AIM INDUSTRIES blocks. The bolt on my Ty went through the angle block and had to be cut. Make sure the springs are clamped before cutting. Also, get a replacement spring pack bolt from a 4 wheel drive shop. It's a direct replacement, no grinding off the head to make it fit in the bottom of the AIM block. I didn't like the U bolts AIM sent with the kit, too small in diameter and too wide at the U (axle). I had a set made up at a spring shop 9/16x8.5 coarse thread if memory serves me. They fit much better and gave me additional peace of mind. X-torque like the manual says. Mine came out very well.
