Pinhole in trans line< update-no more tranny!!

I found a source of a transmission fluid leak today. It was coming out of the hard line that goes into the bottom of the radiator. There was a pinhole at the bend just before it entered the radiator and the ATF was at a barely visable stream. Do you think that it's possible for fluid to leak here and then move all the way to the bottom of the pan and even the front pump area. FWIW I have my TC inspection cover off. When I'm driving I realize that the wind would force the fluid back...that's obvious. But what about up into the pump area? I have dried everything off before and tried to see if fluid was coming out of the front seal while the ty was on a lift, but not a drop. Then I would drive around only to find the pan dripping with fluid and the exposed TC slinging ATF all over the exhaust!

Thoughts? (besides I'm a jackass)

Well, if it's leaking at the radiator, fix it before you catch fire.
You don't want tranny fluid hitting the exhaust.

Otherwise clean it up, drive slowly around wherever you live, not so fast as to have wind as a factor.
Check it out again.
Maybe the converter is cracked, maybe the pump cover is cracked, maybe the gasket/seal between the pump and the case are leaking.

I would think that the pump bushing & seal might be worn.

Lots of maybe's.

Fixed the leak today. It wasn't even low since I stopped it in time. Took it for a test drive and lost all forward gears. I am supposed to drive this to my next assignment in Italy in 2 weeks. This is after a Hartman kit, counless hours rebuilding, pump leak, shop rebuild. I figure I lost 5 grand today. This fucking sucks man..I don't think ANYONE has had worse trans problems than me. seriously. Not looking for sympathy..just fucking pissed right now. :drinking:

He hasen't pissed me off any. If his name were 4L60, then I might feed him to a woodchipper, but he's aight. On a side note...thanks for the alternator John. At least that worked for me!

oh well, I know how losing a good tranny feels, and I thought maybe it would cheer you up to beat on something.

I'd be in the running for bad tranny luck too, however the first time was my own damn fault, the second time was cause of theft. Thankfully now I have a rock solid 700R4 that I am extremely happy with. Thousands of miles so far, still shifts like new :D

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, believe me when I say, we've all been there at some point :(
