Re: passenger axle flange help

Yes, you will need to take the diff out to get them out. If its the passenger side, you can get away with removing the mounts and twisting it down. But I would just take it all the way out to be safe and not warp the mounts.

Thanks alot that gave me enough clearance now the next problem will be removing the starter.

Re: passenger axle flange help

starter is a lot easier to remove than the diff. just two bolts and the nut holding the wire. little tight but not too bad. if its the stock starter, be careful. Its heavier than it looks.

Re: passenger axle flange help

The starter will be a lot easier if you remove the torque converter cover, just 4 bolts, one is an allen. Why are you removing the starter?

Re: passenger axle flange help

The best is probably the auto parts store. Make sure it's correct. IE take your old one. Otherwise take it to Interstate Bat. They can make anything you want and do a pretty good job IMHO.:2cents:

Let us know how you make out with getting a custom one made. I been there but never followed through.

I discovered mine in similar condition you describe. I had a real tough time locating " what I want". I am very perticular with me things have to be right I work with electricity everyday, everything has to be right even if its on my vehicle.

The pic attached is how I discovered mine. It appeared to be " rubbed" or " worn through" and under load/acceleration with truck lifting with awd it would rub and then eventually arc out. If you look cloae enough you can see the copper strands blown apart ( had a good ground at some point!!)This truck started to become problematic driving and I parked it took almost everything apart and found this.of course it took a lot of work but i found it.I feel like if I didn't the truck would have caught on fire. It happens.

Re: passenger axle flange help

Just FWI I have no connection with Interstate and don't even buy their batteries but the cables I had made at the store here came out very nice. And if, for example, you need a cable that has two different sizes coming out of a bat term like we use I think that they can do that in two different gauges. This was as of a few years ago, I assume it hasn't changed much but it's at least worth checking out.

The cable is all finished from ceautoelectricsupply.com. The termal at the battery looks factory. All the wire is tinned and oxygen free. The only thing i didwas install the loom .The total cost was 57.00.
