pass. door panel

My pass. side door panel rattles like MAD. I've pulled it off a couple of times trying to diagnose the problem, with no luck and I'm tired of breaking the clips :banghead: . There is currently no foam between the panel and the door, the only thing I can figure is the panel is flexing just enough to tap the door. If this is the case, where could I get some foam to put in there? (already called parts stores)

Would some cheap carpet padding work??

thanks

race or get outta the way
Have someone ride with you and make sure its not maybe the glass, or something else.
Fwiw i had a similar experience. Rattle i thought was in the door. Didnt do it if i had washed the truck. Turned out to be the door hinge pin on the upper hinge of pass door. If it had water in it it was quiet. Oil didnt help. Changed the pin (had body shop buddy do it, otherwise its a pia. Noise gone for good.

I have an extra passenger foam off of a Syclone.

all s-10 body style trucks do that door rattle noise my 88 blazer did that till i put a few screws around the edge of the panel i use small selftapperes and you cant see them . but i just had the door panel off my syclone the other day to change a power door lock switch and mine has the foam in it which my blazer doent so i would say that is your problem who ever had that panel off never felt like putting that foam back in your door i would say go to a bone yard to see if you can get just that foam part

I've had door rattles on 4 S-trucks now. All were fixed by replacing the little foam pads that pre-load the door latch linkages. There are 2 different thicknesses needed if you are replacing them all.

BTW, same deal with the tailgate. Foam pads in there to damp the release linkage rattles. The pads get hard and crusty after 10 years, and the rattles begin.

Lube them with white lithium grease where the linkage presses against it.
