Paint job price?

Syclone#2960

What ever it takes!!
What should I expect to pay for a quality paint job on the ty? Im talking about removing the cladding to paint it right to not just shoot it.

I paid $4300 for mine, that included a new drivers side fender. I removed all cladding/door locks and handles. They removed all the glass and installed a new windshield also. Make sure they are carefull with the cladding, they broke a few tabs on my fender arch and also threw out an extra fender arch I had.

I was quoted 5k droping it off and picking it up when done, the guy that owns the shop use to own a ty that he painted several times so he knows the ins and outs of the cladding

I got quoted 3k for fenders doors hood and all cladding that touches those parts. All parts provided by me in good shape. One of the doors I dropped off needed a little work, so I expect it to be a little more.

Good fast cheap. Pick 2 and it won't be the third. define quality, remember these trucks were single stage water based from new if there's any paint damage it needs to be stripped to bare metal. Paint materials aren't cheap, a show paint job would be 10k minimum

I paid 7k and they painted everything except the firewall. That was a complete color change, shaved tailgate and antenna hole, and had the windshield replaced but I removed everything myself and dropped it off. Also had it color sanded.

Re: Paint job price?

be wary of 10k paint jobs
there is a thread on this and it was debated that for 10k they skip a
lot of steps

meaning you are not guaranteed equal too or more than paint jobs like mine or the above posters

Re: Paint job price?

I had alot of headaches with the shop I used I had to send the truck back 4 times before it was done to my liking, and they took 5 months to paint it.

8 months, around 4k (I think). I had the truck entirely apart, and put it back together myself.

Paint supplies alone are around $2,000 in material.

So then figure $40+/hr shop rate, how many hours do you want to pay for prep work?

No paint job is perfect, an honest shop you basically pay more for less defects. Less you pay the more defects to expect.
