Ouch

Happened about 30 mins into our trip to So. Cal last week on I-80 outside of Reno. Trucker didn't use his mirror's/check his blind spot, shoved me off the road, the back end got loose and slid around and hit the back of his trailer and sent me down into the median, almost rolling it. Then the jackass didn't even stop, I had to catch back up to him and pull his ass over. Im picking up the estimate tomorrow...should get a nice new high-end paint job out of the deal, along with a new CCHE and some $ for better brakes, which would have prevented this in the first place. Here are some pics:

Man that sucks im sorry to here about another stupid ass truck driver, About 5 years ago a truck driver did a lane change similar to that on my mother, She was sent under the trailer, and her car was drug in excess of a 1/4 mile and tottaled her car, sent her to the hospital with a broken back and alot of other shit, The trucking company paid all her med bills and bought her a Brand New 99 Eclipse GST and she got 75k for it, cuz ther was a ups Driver that witnessed it all, .... Well id take that company for everything you can get.

Good luck on it all

Re: Ouch

Well the police report says he was hauling for Wal-Mart...I quess this it was happens when the government allows wal-mart trucks to run 16 hours a day   Id be happy with my truck back the way it was and a bit of $ to upgrade a few things, oh and a rental car to trash on while its getting fixed!

Lots of people saw it, but no one pulled over to give a statement. Good to see people care when someone gets run off the road :squint: The highway patrol said that someone reported it as a roll-over, so Caraflight, the fire department and an ambulance showed up.

Im going to see if I can find the cladding, its probably not useable, but I could put it on my wall or something.

Re: Ouch

Nice thinking to put your foot in the gas and catch him. So how did you get him to pull over?

Well It took some convincing by my friend yelling out the window at him, but I think he was just playing stupid and actually knew he hit us. Didn't take much to pull him over. He said he checked his mirrors twice (I even made sure he could see me as I was passing, meaning I could see him in his mirror, so he had to see me) My friends were yelling at him more than I was...I would have loved to knock the guy out but that only would have landed me in jail and pobably not getting my truck fixed for free. So I just kept my cool and waited for the highway patrol to show up. Im picking up the estimate this afternoon hopefully...anyone want to take a guess on the total?

Re: Ouch

Glad to here you got him...this happens more than you know and most of the time the person does not go after the truck they just sit there. I have had soo many hit and runs like this, and no one else even calls in the description or plate number of the truck. I would also be carefull on what you say about your insurance claim in a public forum....ya never know...better safe than sorry...I hope everything works out...

Re: Ouch

Damn matt, that sucks.

I have seen some of those truck drivers make crazy lane changes. Look away for one second and they are in your lane. Did the driver get cited for hit and run?
