Thanks for the idea....I will check it. The only thing is the idler arm wouldnt make that "hamster wheel" squeak would it? I think I messed something up cutting the axles to get the wheel caps on my z06's ---

It could if it was really bad, and they're notorious GM trouble areas.

How can you mess up cutting the end of the axle? Just trying to figure out what you mean, you just cut it off, it shouldn't make any noises or cause any drivability issues.

HAHAH it was 80 today so I decided to start up the truck and drive it around the block....that squeaky rock crushing sound is TOTALLY gone?! Do you guys think the grease froze in the wheel bearings in the winter and was causing the sound? Geez these trucks are something else!!! ---

No, it didn't freeze and then unfreeze, keep searching.

DAMNIT its back already....this time I noticed when I make a left turn at around 15mph it POPS once, then you go 20 feet and it POPS again.....still squeaking bad, and causing a GRINDING sorta sound that I can feel in my gas pedal ---

Do you have a jack? You really need to get it in the air and check it out. Possibly the idler/pitman are sooo worn it's allowing the the center link to rub or catch on the exhaust/frame. It can happen.

Wheel bearing shouldn't pop unless it's extremly bad, normally they make your grinding noises, in either case STOP driving the truck and get it checked before something bad happens!

Reminds me a little of my dad's truck.. The front differential mount had a weld that broke, causes some very hard to diagnose griding noises, especially when turning. Worth a look...

Thank you guys VERY much....I guess my plans to go to the track tomorrow night are done, hahah. I will get her in the air tomorrow and diagnose the front end a little more :) ---

OK, just got back from the mechanic. He said my lower ball joints need to be replaced ( but I will get that done when I get my Coil Overs installed ). We tried shaking the wheel and its solid, so it ruled out the wheel bearings.

The weird part is when the truck is on the lift with NO LOAD there are ZERO sounds....but when I took the guy on the "test drive" we didnt get 1/2 mile down the road before he told me to turn off and go back because of the squeaking and crunching sounds. I would say that rules out peices of metal flying around in my differential.

He recommended new "front axle half shafts" ... could that be making my problems? Thats the part I cut to get the rim cover to fit right (so I will have to cut these AGAIN?! ). I asked if I could have gotten shavings anywhere and he said "no its sealed". Checked the propshaft and it looked straight and wasnt loose.

If I do tie rod ends (4) and covers, performance ball joints (4), 2 axle shafts, 2 wheel bearings, idler arm, pitman arm, zq8 steering box, gilbert shaft, upgraded steering shaft, upgraded front sway bar w. poly bushings, and the RPM coilover system is there ANYTHING I am missing for a front end rebuild (other bushings, ect)? I will even get new pads and rotors (just got new calipers recently). Then a front end alignment. I think I want to just get it all done at once and be done with it, THANKS :) ---

i hope after all that front end work your shake is gone, i did the same, 4 ball joints ,4 tie rod ends, idler arm and pitman arm ,upper and lower control arm bushings , sway bar mounts ,four shocks ,balanced all my drive shaft and all new joints , new tires , new front hub and bearings....not to rain on your parade but my vibration is still there....

i had a problem once with a s-10 making a squeking noise almost sounded exactly like what your explaining. the mechanic replaced pads thinking wear indicactor , not it. replaced wheel bearings , not it.
i looked at the car (customer was gettin pissed ) ,it took me close to an hour and a half to find it, it was a squeak the got faster as the wheel speed increased. turned out to be the axle seal in the differential must have been dried out, i sprayed alittle wd-40 on it and noise went away , repalced both differential axle seals and noise was gone. not saying its your noise but that was one noise that was most definatly there but not easy to find.

Thanks for the heads up.....but was my list above COMPLETE? Is that EVERYTHING I can swap out for a front end rebuild? I am not too savvvy with the suspension and I dont want to overlook replacing something that will be off when they are doing the other work :) ---
