ostrich 2.0 software?

I may be blind or just stupid but I'm having a hard time finding the software download need for Ostrich 2.0. I bought an Ostrich from Aaron but he couldn't find the disc to go with it. Does anyone have a link? or can email me the software? I looked all over Code59.org and Moates.net and I'm not finding it. Any help? Thanks

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I don't think there is a software download for Ostrich 2. Tuner pro rt 4 or 5 should recognize it when it is plugged in.

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I've never used an Ostrich so it may have been a dumb question. TP 5.0 recognizes it but I didn't know if that what I used to load .bins. I'll mess with it

yes it is. just go under "open bin" and then hit the arrow key "up", i think, to upload the bin into the ostrich.

Done! Thanks Randy, guess I should have done a little more reading up on how to work this thing

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

now I need to convert my 58 .bin to 59 or get a an XDF for code 58. :rotf:

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

just a word of advice, but be very careful with which bin you use. I made the mistake of loading one that was tuned for race gas, and trashed my motor on pump gas. my fault, because that tune had way too much timing.

Edit: kinda feels good to finally be able to offer some small advice instead of ask for it :D

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I don't want to tell you something you already know, but it took me a while to wrap my head around exactly what Code 59 is. My best analgy is comparing a computer operating system, say windows to apple. I don't think a code 58 bin will convert to code 59, the different operating systems speak different languages. like trying to load word for window onto an apple computer. code 58 .xdf, will work as I understand on tuner pro rt.

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

Thanks Randy. There are a few out there who can convert a 58 tune to a 59 but I'm sure it's not a simple task. I got my ostrich to upload a .bin but when I plug it into the g1 adapter I'm not even getting a check engine light, truck wont start. Switch back to me burned chips and it's back to normal. Guess I've got some learning to do.

BTW I've already got custom tuned 58 bins for my TY. I'm just tired of burning chips so I'm stepping up to Ostrich and maybe convert to 59

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

ostrich and tp should work fine with code 58. check out powertuneplus.com Tooky did a lot of very good tuning with code 58. I ran one of his tunes for a long time with good results. you only need the right xdf. should be a way to download your current tune from your chip to TP, just not sure how. Maybe get the tune from whoever burned you chip (I don't know if it was you).

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I just emalied you one of my older code 59 .bin's. I have a similar build as you, and this bin should start and run in your truck. It is pretty conservative.

ostrich should be all connected, with key in on position before you upload. TP should have a indication in lower left of screen indicating that Ostrich 2.0 is recognized. Sorry if I am telling you something you already know.

That could explain it. I had ostrich connected to the laptop but it wasn't plugged into the truck. It was detected by TPRT and said that the .bin was successfully uploaded however.

when i plug the Ostrich into the g1 adapter which way should the ribbon be going? towards the memcal or away from it? I'm just being lazy and want to make sure it works. This is the Ostrich that took some abuse in the FiveToDrive tuning package scandal.

Nolan has been helping me with all of my tuning to date and he sends me the .bin files and I burn the chip. I have all the .bins files in code 58 format I just want to upload one to Ostrich. I'm going to start doing some of my own tuning A. to learn, and B. Nolan is incredibly busy these days. Thanks for your help

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

not sure about the ribbon, mine just plugged right in. should be pretty straight foward. if you have the code 58 .bin's, you should be gold with the right .xdf.

the ostrich ribbon can plug into the G1 adapter either way, I'll mess with it and verify it works. Thanks for the help. I'm usually pretty knowledgeable but I feel like an amateur tonight.

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I am thinking back, and all I did to load a code 58 .bin with the ostrich was plug the ostrich in and hit download. the necessary files are already on the factory computer, as it uses code 58 from the factory.

Re: ostrich 2.0 software?

I emailed Aaron to see what he thinks. we weren't sure if it was going to work but maybe I'm doing something wrong. oh and BTW I found the correct $59 and $58 xdf's so I can now edit the .bins.
