Oil in the turbo

92TY 92,000 miles. Engine started to smoke and I found oil in the turbo, both air and exhaust side. I had the turbo rebuilt and replaced the oil supply line. Installed rebuilt turbo and still oil in the air side. I took it back to the rebuild shop and they took it apart and said the seals and gaskets are ok. Installed again and oil is still in the air side. No oil at idle but rev it just a little and you can see oil. What's up?

Re: Oil in the turbo

pcv system, if your truck was beat on your rings might be getting weak and the pcv system is dumping oil mist in the intake

Stab it and steer it
Re: Oil in the turbo

Check the elbow at the turbo inlet and the crossover to see if they have oil. If that’s dry then your turbo drain is plugged or restricted in some way causing normal oil pressure to force oil past the seals.

What ever it takes!!
Re: Oil in the turbo

I'm having the same issue w/ oil in the turbo. I spoke w/ PTE and they told me it's the PCV valves, I don't use PCV valves just 2 breathers. They said high crank pressure is causing it. It also leaks through the driver's side valve cover.

I'm going to install 2 chrome breathers w/ the tube attachments and run the tubes to the intake before the turbo to use it as a vacuum source.

I hope it helps.
