NW Burbs Sy/Ty member / mechanic??

I am looking for an expierenced mechanic or, Sy/Ty guru in the NW Burbs, Schaumburg, Grayslake area. I am in need of a full tune up and a few misc things. I had my guy look at it but he does not have free time to do the work. I would like to learn by watching / helping someone who knows how to work on these trucks and has access to a computer scan tool. I would even take it a shop if it is recommeded by members here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I might have time next weekend if you want to bring it to Naperthrill. My laptop took a dive - but I can borrow one if needed. Buy the stuff and we can get 'r done.

well if u live in grayslake i could show u some tip on doing a tune-up. i dont have a scan tool or a labtop but i have tuned up my truck about 5 times so i know most of the tricks. but if u want a shop to do it u can go to Performance auto Repair in Lake Villa (847)356-2395. if u talk to Todd tell him Steve Preusser sent u and he will hook u up. he does all my work when i cant figure the problem out. real good guy! or go to sound performance and talk to Ivan. i bought his old typhoon and he can help u out. but dont go to a dealer because i go to Anthony GMC and they look at me like i am crazy when i tell them i own a typhoon. so screw the dealers.

Ty-scuba where are you located? When are you free? Do you have the number for Sound Performance in Schaumburg? I checked the name on MSN yellow pages and the phone book w/ Schaumburg area here at work and no luck.

Didn't know they were charging so much.

I will say this though, a tune up at SP will be done right, with the same parts the Syty.net guys like & recommend. The tune up at the dealer will come with crappy parts like it did stock, and won't last.

I'm curious what SP's tune up included?

I did not ask questions after quote shock. I know they would do good work and put on good parts. The parts might be $150 then, $500 just cause their them? I would not pay $649 for a tune up if I were rich.

Anyways, I store my Ty at my parents in Orland Park. We have a lift and all the tools you will ever need. I was a newbie last year and wanted to learn to do the work myself. I would be more than willing to help but I have a baby so my time is limited. If you are in a hurry, there are tons of posts from folks probably more knowledable than me. We can setup a time if you are interested in getting the truck down to Orland Park.

Sorry to bring up this old thread. I have been out of action for a while. I PM'd THEMADTYPHOON and GM TURBO to see if I can inlist there help with a data master and a tune up how to.
