Kinda a long story so bear with me.
There is a local area series of car shows and 100 foot drag races here. I've been wanting to go for a few years now, just never had the time. Well this weekend was my chance.
They run three classes,
Street tire, basicly radials, no slicks allowed, drag radials are fine though 8)
Slicks, no fender mods, tubs, etc.
Pro, anything goes.
All vehicles had to be street legal, insured and registered for the road.
They were paying out 250 per class to win and 1000 bux for the best time of the day.
The past years best ever was a 2.5xx in the 100 foot. That was a 72 chev truck tubbed, spraying, etc. My first pass was a 2.3690, lets just say a few jaws dropped.
The really cool part was there was three sy's there including mine, quite a rare site in canada.
My time stood for the whole day right till the end when someone finally beat it.
It took a full pro mod 63 split window vette with a 700"+ big block spraying a shitload of N20. Apparently he runs mid 7's in the 1/4. His time, a 2.140.
Needless to say about every other racer in the event was pissed at the three black trucks. Heard quite a few nasty comments, best of the day was.
"All the people making serious horsepower sure don't like you and your truck much."
My response was, I'm making serious power too, I can just get it on the ground.
When the guy handed me my trophy and money he asked if it bothered me to come so close to winning overall. I told him that I would console myself by doing the hour drive home in the sy with my A/C, cruise and C/D player going.
I have a funny feeling that they are going to outlaw AWD for the next event though.
