Normal Tranny Temperature?

On the Autometer guage, what is the "normal" temperature range for the transmission to be in? I'm out in Phoenix and this thing has no hesitation about climbing up (no tranny cooler yet, but is on the way).

Safe tranny temps are under 210 degrees. One boosted Launch will send it up higher than that, 230-240 range....

Fantastic, no boost launch and i'm already above 210 on a regular basis..

A 160 thermostat will help lower those temps some (the tranny fluid goes through the radiator and it 195 degree temps)

i mounted a DIY tranny cooler, and monitor the temps at the lower port of the stock heat exchanger... i get about 30 degrees celsius driving...
when i let i stop at a stoplight it will go to around 50 degree celsius and when driving goes right back to 30..

With a B&M 24,000 GVW cooler mounted in front of the radiator, I average 160-170ish just cruising around even in 90 degree temperatures.

Definitly not ditto for me. Glad I ordered the tranny cooler, this thing can only be driven at night it seems. :rant:

for the 24,000 GVW coolers, do you still leave the stock one hooked up or do you re-route the existing lines to the new one? any difficulty mounting electric fans?

Its also stall speed related. I got 185-195*F on a 100*+ day unlocked (low speed) and 170*F crusin...... Thats with a 3200 stall TC and 13 vane pump with .57 regulator

mine never comes off the bottom peg which is 130 lockup on on the highway. 140 cruisin around.

28k B&M race cooler only.

i usually have 150 +or- 10 , after some high speed highway runs or launching 180-190 tops.

I hot lapped my truck at the track yesterday giving rides to three people in high 80 degree temps. Got to stop just long enough after making each pass to drop one off and pick another one up (track rental day). Three 5 pound boosted launches at the track back to back and the hottest my trans got was 176 degrees. That's with a 3K stall Hughes Performance TC and locking up the TCC manually.

normal driving around 140F 3 runs in a row at the strip, about 290F with B&M Hi-Tek Super Cooler
