Noob here

hey guys. Been a fan of the Sy/Ty for years and i figured since now i might actually be able to buy one that i shoudl start finding out more about them and try to see if i can actually afford it. Ive got 2 firebirds now and ive loved F-bodys for as long as i can rememeber. IM a huge fan of sleepers. my Formula looks totally stock except for a "really bad misfire" read: Really big cam. Its nice pullin up to mustang boys and watching their jaws drop when a stock looking 3rd gen puts 2 bus lengths on them. So back on topic. Ive had a soft spot for these trucks ever since i saw my first one when i was 16. Ive always wanted to buy one for that ultimate sleeper but could never afford to pay the prices everyone is asking for them. Until now. SO if anyone knows of any being sold in the New england area let me know.

I don't often see that many truck FS in MA. Ussually when I do they see them, they are over priced for what they are. What type of SyTy are you looking for? Sy or Ty? Mileage? Mint or Project? Stock or Modified?

Oh yeah if you looking to do burn outs all the time, SyTy's are probably not what you want :)

Re: Noob here

hey dude. wow i hang out in framingham all the time, and my GF lives there. ive prolly seen your truck.. you dont happen to live at the apartment buldings on rt near the toyota dealer do ya?

I really want a Syclone. I find that i would have more use for it because it is a pickup truck. and as for everything else i dont really care. I'm a Tech and been workin with GMs since i got into the business. SO if its a truck that needs some work then i dont mind puttin it into it. i would kinda prefer stock over modded so im not buying someone else project, but if it comes down to it ill buy what i can find. I havent seen any for sale in mass in a while. and the only one i did see was for about 15K.

and ive got my F-bodys to do burnouts. i want the Sy to be able hole shot the hell out of some kid at a light lol.

That they will do. They require lots of work, but it sounds like you are not afraid to get dirty. They are fun trucks and shock most people when the light turns green. For a weekend fun toy, I say get one. You should be able to find a nice stock truck around $10k right now.Good luck and welcome.

If your talking about the White Ty at Chapel hill, it wasn't mine. I have a Syclone. The owner that owned that Ty, moved out of state and sold it.

Re: Noob here

i thought i saw a black Sy over there a few times. Maybe im hallucinating. yeah if could find one in Mass for aroudn 10 i woudl defiantly pick it up. The one thing im not toally clear on is if they use all standard Gm drivetrain components. I.E. standa 10 bolts front and rear, standard 700r4s etc. stuff that if i break it ill be able to find replacements fairly easily.

Their is a guy who bought a Ty from NH, it has some rust. He is off 495, I know he is in to bagged S-10's.

A lot of us travel to buy SyTy's. Expanding your search to NY/NJ will help. I bought mine in VA. I did a one way plane ride and a 10 hour drive. I would probably travel anywhere in the US fror the right SyTy, but I have it shipped if driving was take going to take more than a day.

Yep thats him. yeah from what im seeing i think im gonna have to bite the bullet and go down to NJ or somewhere to get it. The only problem i have is not driving it before i buy it. Ive never driven one. so i dont even know if id like how they drive. and i dont know what to check for aside from the typical S-10 trouble spots. but hey thats why im here. to learn more about these trucks.

How do they drive :) They aren't the best handling/braking vehicle in the world, but they are fun to drive. They have tons of torque, they will even put your TPI's to shame. You might change your mind on what to use for a driver.

Most of the local trucks are away for the winter. Usually in the May/Spring, we have a BBQ in CT. I would offer a ride in my truck but its broken and probably will be breaking in the engine until the summer.
