:tup:Excellent work Larry

Thanks for kind reply. It truly can be driven by anyone's grandmother to a grocery store
(or bandimere) on pump gas without a custom tune rain, or sunshine. :p

It was an extremely difficult build (only 1/16" clearance on everything, with some bolts taking
8 hrs "blinded" to wrench). Couple AWD, and DA of 8,000 feet (with a/c) lots of "experts" said our
issues would be a)cooling, b)massive torque/breakage, c)electronics, d) braking/suspension and
e)obtaining a factory-ish looking installation.

Though a 4 wheel dragradial spin in 1-2 and 2-3 happens if you get frisky (from idle to 7500 rpm)
you can get parts at any GM/Corvette dealership. Besides passing CO emissions and licensing regulations
it gets 20 mpg and the insurance is cheaper than most newer performance vehicles (which I love to see
along side me at stoplights)!!

The 150 mph recording pictured on the dakota dash is real, captured during the first test-n-tune moment
on a deserted 1/4 section of hiway. It also pulled the front wheels that day (but suspension adjustments
have since solved that gotcha) and remains Non-Aspirated but a highly modded engine. I realize its not for everyone.

Anyways, now its back to shadows, where I prefer to be off radar again.

Good to see you enjoying your typhoon. What 1/4 does your typhoon run up in that thin air?

Though I'm a very low-key and appreciative person, you'll have to excuse my vagueness as
...I'm a bit guarded about giving out too much details about the truck due to pending lawsuits
and dissatisfied customers with a certain former shop. I also get some passionate purists
who are so unhappy with the low-mileage swap/non-factory options that they view change as being sacrilegious.

While this sounds a bit magical and hokus-pokus, I prefer not to disclose a recorded
ET for the above stated reasons and that everyone has been very kind to me at Bandimere without having a cage,
seat belt restraints and such (so I don't want to cause any backlash). And though I respect and admire the members
on this site, I really don't want, need, or intend to seek a Big Gun designation. However,
if you use any drag-racing calculator
and the dakota dash mph (captured in the published dash picture) you'll get an approximate time.

But the NoJimmy Typhoon is not a track, nor show truck, but a street-performance-typhoon that is a bit unique.
Its goal was to mimic factory-ish output, miminal maintenace, exploit newer technology, and to give its owner an hellish awd thrill
when asked with the capability of hauling friends/family (cross-country if required). So far its been all that.....

As always, many thanks to all for your interest and kind remarks. Lastly, I hope we made someone smile today!! :rotf:

Larry,

Congratulations on FINALLY finishing the truck to a streetable machine.
You have been a champ to endure all you have during your build(s) and you have a fine machine to show for it.

Thanks for sharing all that you have.
Made my day.

Which Emich dealership was the truck originally purchased from? I spent many a hours shagging cars for Emich on Arapahoe in what is now Centennial back in the 90's.

I know the Arapahoe Emich Dealership very well, since they performed all the warrantee service on the truck when new. They even photocopied the infamous "checklist" for me so that I would not be flagged when the vin number was entered into the computer system. GM terminated many claims from owners with this practice. Somewhere I still have all of this info.

I ordered the truck having not seen a forest green and was told that GM PAS only had white available for immediate delivery from Michigan. I was fortunate to have their toll number and talked each month to their staff (later receiving a signed build sheet of my ordered forest green truck). They also sent me survey's (being in Colorado) and were very interested in learning how the Typhoon performed once picked up and driven in our high altitude. Later I was told that more women bought Typhoons for the low ground clearance, rich feature options, awd convenience, and ability to ski during the winter rather than engine/performance.

During this same period, it was pretty easy to find a new untitled Syclone but hard to locate a Typhoon (many shipped elsewhere when delivered to Emich). Utah had "acid rain" damaged vehicles that were discounted but I did not want one for the small discounted price. Not long after buying Typhoon I posted in the SyTy Email List which had fewer than 10 diehard members. Those were really fun times (Ken was a GN/Turbo-T guru who was invaluable for understanding/translating performance mods).

Nice talking with ya.....

Yeah the Service Manager back then was Roy Beazley with Greg Ryball and Fritz Gerherdt as service writers. I know Roy passed away about 8yrs ago. Greg works at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet near Park Meadows. All of those guys were great people.
