I drove the Ty last night and actually paid attention to the sounds of the engine and I could barely hear them. My exhaust is louder than the engine itself, and the turbo is pretty loud too.
I had reported earlier in this thread that my motor is just as noisy as the OP's. Not surprisingly, I am using the same exact pistons as him. It sounds like a diesel on startup but as Damain stated, it gets better when it warms ups.
I had the sealed power L2441F pistons in mine and it sounded like a diesel for the first few minutes. I just learned to live with it, but builder did warn me that they would be noisy.
