No upshift @ WOT????

Here I am,at the intersection,$7000 worth of engine build and turbo, first 1000 miles are over, time to see what I've got to show for all my efforts.Shoots through the crosswalks and hits 2nd,runs through 2nd(feels great),then WHOA!!!,there's the rev limiter.Back out and it upshifts, tryed again and same thing. When limping home I tryed getting on it in 3rd and it felt like it was slipping a little with a slight shudder.WTF....Back to the drawing board.I'm starting to feel like the coyote trying to get those ACME rocket skates to work....
Though my 1993 Ty has low miles(24,8XX),it had been abused pretty heavily before I got it(13,053 miles).Engine showed signs of 2 major repairs, the reason an "engine reseal" turned into an "engine rebuild".
If my trans is dumping, what parts can I use to upgrade and strengthen my 700???
Who should I get them from,I'll be doing the work myself,so I just need parts.....

Re: No upshift @ WOT????

The TV cable might not be adjusted properly, or you may have burned clutches from the previous abuse. If the trans is shot, there are upgraded clutches that can be put in along with cryo parts, but for the ultimate reliability there's the 4L80. Before assuming the worst, check the fluid and the TV cable to rule out something simple.

Re: No upshift @ WOT????

I make true DIY kits for $1400+shipping. Has everything in the top build with the drum fully assembled. All you'll need is a dial indicator, feeler gauges, snap ring pliers, torque wrench and a DIY spring compressor and I'll send instructions how to do it. Costs less than $10 to make it.

Re: No upshift @ WOT????

Cable is only able to catch the last tooth,so it's on the edge,I'll try replacing it 1st.As for the fluid, level is perfect, filter new, flushed around 15k-16k.

Re: No upshift @ WOT????

Your TV cable is shot. That cable is a "line rise" cable. Without sufficient pressure, it cannot do a forced downshift or upshifts. More likely than not, your clutches are shot from not having enough pressure to keep them sufficiently clamped.

Re: No upshift @ WOT????

I would recomment Alto Clutches, Kolene Steels. Those are some brand names that are proven to work and perform well.

I rebuild a 4L80 using alto's and kolene's and ti was able to hole ~1000 ft lbs (obviously some other upgrades as well) for 3 years of taking it to the track about every other weekend. The part that finally killed the transmission was the input shaft. We tore it down to rebuild it after that, and the clutches and steels obviously didn't look new, but they didnt really look taht bad either considering the torture that they had been put through.
