Re: NHRA rules vs real world

I dont know if this is a NHRA rule or not but our local track RockyMountainRaceway has an ETvsCrank height.

"Trucks: 10.00/slower
2 and 4wheel drive. NO VEHICLES QUICKER THAN 10.00) [ This is just for the class]
9.99 or Quicker -Centerline of crankshaft maximum height is 24" or less"

Hi Ed
Saw the aricle in Gm Hight tech and also some pics of your truck (nice truck by the way) and cage.. witch leads to some Questions...

Heres the FIA (for europe) sketches for cages and so. (scroll down to page 90 )

http://www.fia.com/resources/documents/94730312__2006DessinsDrag.pdf

And heres the swedish rulebook. (scroll down to side 26 there it starts..)

http://web.sbf.se/regler/up/1/DR_TK.pdf

I cant se the possibility to have the side bars (the bars at the door opening) inisde your truck bent like U have and get them cleared?? and theres noting that gives U the possibillity to have sving out bars either?
Is this aloved at NHRA rules??

Just curiose..

About that elusive 8, have U done some more runs lately and if so , best time this time???
More confusing in the rule djungle, Why cant every racer work to have the same rules all over the planet, would bee much easier to hace racing exchange then..

We even heard about swedish Pro Mod team having the same dificulties and discutions about driving in US too, with promod cars BUILD in US shipped to sweden and raced there then go back to us and would not clear the NHRA rules they where build by?? this is almost close to discriminations..

I know of US teams ben to bouth europe and Sweden and think not have had this discusion..

anders

truck has swing out bars and the had no problem whatsoever getting nhra chassis cert.

i can tell you there was no way to get an nhra chassis cert without the rear bars.

Re: NHRA rules vs real world

okidoo Ed.

Im not sure yet but I think swing out bars is not alowed in sweden when your et is starting to go realy low under 9.99 or 9.5 but I have to check to be serten..

They are alowed in NHRA then, and no restriction on them??

Then again in sweden they say " If its not in the rules its forbidden :D thats why we can get some dispances.. like our rear bars.

but the shute is NOT possible to get dispance on to not have.. but then again, U have to hav it does not say U have to USE it :D

Re: NHRA rules vs real world

nope no restirction on the swingout bars.

one thing about the existing cert. right now its certified to 7.50.

but they did a change last year so when it gets recertified it will only be good to 8.50.

Re: NHRA rules vs real world

Roberts cage is also certified to 7.50 and this was his first year so he has 2 more to go :D

Have the Moroso Motorsports park "gone down the hill"? in the last couples of years?

Sadly, yes. Since Dick Moroso passed away, I think everything has steadly gone down hill, and the past 2-3 years have been especially bad. :(

Got to correct you here Ed. You can have a roll cage with a funny car style cage around driver with no rear down bars along as the vehicle weighs less than 3600 lbs and uses stock frame rails. This will certify to 7.50. I believe it is SFI chassis spec 25.3.

Re: NHRA rules vs real world

Since we are talking about rules...DYK that now you can run down to a 11.49 1/4 mile , 7.35 1/8 with no roll bar. just seat belt and helmet. I believe this was changed in 2004. No more 11.99 limit.:woot:
