New Typhoon Owner In Florida

Whats up guys. I Just traded my LT1 Regal for a 1993 Typhoon. Its #1076 Back on black No Roof Rack and has 71k miles. It has original paint that was wet sanded and buffed (looks great for a 93) 3in exhaust, Cone Filter where the original air box was, 2inch blocks in the rear and a silicone vac kit. Interior is mint....looks new.

Ive have 2 GNs and my LT1 regal so I know a small amount about GM SFI but I do have some questions for the GURUS! My oil psi on the dash has flipped over the stop needle. It has a Auto meter mechanical gauge so I know the pressure is good, just want the dash one to work also ya know. Ill post more later but here are a few pics....let me know what you guys think about the Vette Wheels.

If you goto my photobucket page there are some more pics of the truck and my old regal

Welcome....like Harmon said, where in FL are you? We are scattered around the state, but have a good hardcore group.

Where'd you pick up the truck?

And yeah, I dig the murdered wagons:

As far as the flipped oil needle, you'll have to remove the cluster and take off the needle and reset it by hand. Not a hard task, just take your time so you dont rip stuff apart and break anything by accident.

You also have the stock metal IC lines replaced with 3/4" hose, which is good and the Turbo/IC hose is aftermarket as well (stocker is ribbed).

Clean truck, looks nice. Bring it to Nats in a few days!

Yeah if you search on here you can find the write up thread about the oil pressure gauge problem. I had to do it to mine, its not hard to do at all.

Good looking truck though. Did you buy it in state, or elsewhere? Look in the south east forum for most of our in state meets and then the Shindig we have.

Re: New Typhoon Owner In Florida

Im in Jacksonville.
The IC coolant hoses are replaced with heater hose but the previous owner only did ONE hose...I have the stock ribbed pressure hose and the stock airbox sitting on my shelf.
What thickness spacers do you run on the rear? Thanks for all the replies! Here is the regal I traded, I got the truck from Fairburn Ga outside Atlanta.

wow wicked regal! I would guess a 1" spacer for yours? not sure. I had C6 stockers on my last truck and only used a very thin spacer to clear the wheel housing. Never owned a set of wagons...

It's a 1.25" spacer. You can find them on ebay for about $50-75.

Im in Deltona (just outside Daytona Beach), so your about 2 hours north of me.

Ive got 285/35/18s on the rear...1.25 in spacer wont push them out too far? It would look better if the offset matched the fronts. On another note...is there anything I can do about the damn squeeking from the rear gate?!?

I run 285/35/18's all around on my truck, and needed 1.25" spacers to bring the rear out a little closer. I might have pics on my photobucket page, check my sig. Do a search for the rear window squeak, it's been discussed quite a bit.

Theres a few threads on it. Honestly i just wrapped mine with elec tape and replace it when it wears out. Theres other more expensive ways but to me its the easiest and cheapest. Just put a layer or two on the top gate latch and your good to go. 1.25s might be good. Im sure someone else might know more about it.

Re: New Typhoon Owner In Florida

My striker pins for the Tail Gate are already wrapped in tape. It seems the squeak is coming from the glass? The tail gate shuts very snugly so I was just assuming it was the glass part. Prob should go drive with the glass up and see if the noise stops Thanks for the comment on the regal...I loved building it but it drew too much attention from the wrong type of people (almost got car jacked) But he had to catch me first! Still it was a scary situation good thing the wife and kid wasn't with me that time. Most people around here dont know what a typhoon is:)

Re: New Typhoon Owner In Florida

Thanks....the guy who tried to take it from me must have thought the same thing. I wish I had it on video while he was trying to open my door....but with the door handles were shaved so he had some trouble!!! LOL By the time he figured that out the gas pedal was stuck on the floor.

I just ran my first Datamaster log and I have a few more questions:
1. My EGR DC is at 40 - 90 while cruising around its lit up yellow in DM the "EGR target" is WAY lower in the 10-18 range
2. My coolant temp is about 10-15 degs cooler then my Autometer gauge in the cab.
3. at WOT my INJ DC is 100%

Re: New Typhoon Owner In Florida

Well so far I fixed the oil psi gauge and the squeak from the tail gate.
I removed the headlight switch and drilled a small hole, used a paper clip and flipped the needle around. Works like a charm!
The Squeak was the hinges....PB Blaster them up real good and its gone. Thanks for the help guys!!
