New Ty in WA

Ty Sellout
Hey folks, the name is Max. I just picked up a 93' blk/blk Ty locally with 183,000 on the clock. Last digits in vin are 0969 and I take it whats what number Ty it is? It's a 1 owner rig driven primarily by a lady and her husband took it to a GM dealer for everything.... and I mean everything, including oil changes and light replacements. New motor at about 140k and rebuilt tranny after that. I am still waiting to pick up the orig #'s matching motor.

I have used the search function and paged thru the vault, read the sticky in this forum, and all of which has helped. I was expecting a lot more info in the vault though. I was hoping to find a thread with the "must do mods" i.e. IC hotwire, which cold air intake most people prefer, driveshaft hoop and whatever else is good for longevity of these rigs. I am not planning on doing crazy mods, I just want to do the things that will make it run better and last longer. If anyone has any good threads saved or wants to list off some of the basic mods, please share.

Thanks guys

Hello!! Iam also in Washington. Seattle is where im at, and Thanks for becoming a member!. I'll bet that rig is nice, and we know its been maintained. Ill bet the former owners plunked down big money to have that truck services year in and out at the stealer. Post a pic sometime. Like to see her. Oh by the way, I have a Black/Black 92 typhoon. Take care, Karl :)

Funny, I just saw this truck after stopping to ask about a Syclone that's been sitting for years. Thought I'd wander around the large dealership in the area, and found this Ty sitting in the back of the service center, getting ANOTHER engine put in it. I left my name/number with the service writer, since she wasn't able to find some parts still required for the truck. Hopefully I'll hear from the current owner.

Yikes.

The dealer will probably tell the owner "yeah, we've worked on a lot of these trucks" and "yeah, it's a SyTy specific crate motor we putting in." :squint:

Re: New Ty in WA

Could be mine, I traded it off at a dealership in Bellingham with a few cylinders sounding sad, and the choo choo clouds when u pop the oil fill cap while running. I felt pretty bad. But they gave me $6500 for it  It had 206k on it and it was the 2nd motor.

I think you're right. It still has a Bellingham license plate frame on it, and sounds like the story the service writer gave me. Curious, the current owner still hasn't called.
