New Transmission

Okay, Well I just got my trans rebuilt a few weeks ago and after 3 trips back for it being wrong. binding in 3rd, bad vibration, shifting wrong mph/rpm. I get it back and go to do a 4lb boost launch and it feels wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slower than it used to. Seems like it is really spongy no! I pretty much put every/any upgrade into the 700 that you can, super servos, billet crap, transgo kit. Does anyone know what could make it "spongy" on a launch? Just not happy. Feels slower than it used to with a slipping trans.

2nd gear start, bad converter, low line pressure causing slip
Who'd you use so people can stay away......

Re: New Transmission

Re: New Transmission

You may have gotten the old "switchero" which is what some transmission shops do for quick turn around time. You drop off a bad transmission and they give you a "good" one "off the shelf" that they already have rebuilt. Which means that your trans that had the syty specific parts in it, is no longer in your new transmission...

Re: New Transmission

Well, the shop was really good for not giving me the feeling that they just switched it out. They pretty much let me watch the whole process from pulling it out to putting it in. I didnt put anything in that wasn't advised from reading about others on the forums. The tranny feels great after the truck gets moving. Just feels like the 0-30 took a hit in time. Going to do some stop watch runs to see what the clock says. Maybe its just me being overly paranoid~!

Re: New Transmission

look on the side of the transmission and see if you have a LM1 stamped into it on the RR pan rail. if so then you at least have your original case. if not then you have been switched. I also hate to state the obvious but you should have used a good know builder for these trucks. I've heard this same story 1000 times and it's been posted here 100 times. good luck ever getting it to work again properly and not spending a boat load of cash.

Re: New Transmission

Went back today and they adjusted the TV slightly. Feels better. Under light throttle it shifts 14, 23, 32,45 now. The trans itself feels good. It just feels different than before. I asked about the converter. He just said it was a 2k stall. Didnt tell about the brand or anything. It doesn't feel bad now. I think the sluggishness was just in my head. I did a couple launches today and they felt great. My Iphone was saying 0-60 in 4.8. Not bad. For a stockish truck and 85 degress out, that is. I am feeling happy with it, and they told me not to worry they will stand behind their warranty no matter what. So that gives me a warm and fuzzy.

And about a builder here, I wanted Blake to do one, but he pulled the ole disappearing act back in Dec. Sad day. :-(

Re: New Transmission

2k stall? your stock one is 2200 no? if your stall is low then your spool will be slower and you'll launch with less boost...

Yea, that thing was also shifting super hard. Is that fixed now?? Did you adjust the cable more in or out since the BBQ?

Adjusting the TV cable shouldn't be the cure. I would start saving for a new transmission.

Re: New Transmission

Why? That one is brand new.

ThrottleValve cable adjustment affects TV line pressure which affects how soft or firm the clutchs apply if you are WOT and the TV pressure thinks you are ar 10% throttle it doesnt use as much pressure to apply the clutch which will cause it to slip and burn up the clutches

4 trips backa nd it's not work right and they are playing around with reducing the oil pressure (a big no -no). Something is screwed up. I bet the clearances weren't check and if its original SYTy Valve Body, I don't know why a transgo shift was installed. The shop isn't going to pull it apart and go over it with a fine tooth and comb; Its going to be a constant headache
