theres a couple of our members down near the coast

Welcome to the world of SyTySGT's or more commonly known as jackstand riders, knuckle busters and head bangers.:rotf:

That sounds like one heck of a trip. I made the trip from San Diego, Ca. to Florence, SC in '82. I left San Diego at 2 pm Friday and arrived in Florence at 10 am Sunday. I had an RX7. My co-driver got 2 tickets, but I didn't get a ticket. We got stopped in Louisiana by a deputy sheriff. He stopped us for doing 88 in a 55 on Interstate 20. My car had Carolina plates, my partner had an Alaska driver's license, and we were in La. The deputy said what the hell !!! and let us go. Not intending to hijack the thread.

I am 2 hours south of Elizabeth City, on Hwy 17, and travel to Va. quite a bit. It would be nice to get together at Northeast or OuterBanks dragstrips or maybe even Buschgardens, next year.

Simpleman forgot to mention one minor detail concerning his brave trip to NC from Cali. He did the entire trip with NO cell phone.

Courtesy of Les Schwab Tires in Livermore. Yes, they deny it.

The day before Simpleman was to buy the truck I spent $60 to have the truck alligned and wheels checked to ensure a smooth 3000mile drive to it's new home. BIG MISTAKE. The very next day, actually, the very first mile from my house I notice something is up with the front right wheel. Past the point of no return now, I'm on my way to pick up the new buyer. It only got worse....After picking him up we drove about 5 miles before limping off the freeway with ONE G'damn lug nut attached to the truck. LUCKY. The second lug you see, we put that on as it was #2 out of 5 wheels studs to survive the inccedent. 3 wheel studs were completly sheered off. The forth wheel stud was intact with no lug nut attached.

In the end a $60 allignment and wheel check cost me about $800 and my entire Sunday while the buyer lost a day of travel. Glad to hear Aaron made it home. I was a bit worried about the remaining 3 wheels.

I really took it in the can selling this truck. I sold the truck for $100 more that what I paid for it while putting appox $4500 in it (parts & labor and this inccedent). Hope you enjoy the truck Aaron, I miss it already. :)
