Re: New Purchase #1922

Quick detail with waterless wash and wax product I bought from a street vendor. Worked pretty good.

Then bed time. Until I can fit it into my garage.

That product. isn't called DRI-N-WASH is it?
Bad stuff. My dad became a distributor and sold it years ago @ car shows. The first year it worked great for detailing at shows, removing fingerprints & bugs. making it shine. But the product builds up over time, and then it starts developing cracks. It is some sort of polymer. We finally had to wash it off of all his cars with the strongest dish soap we could find w/o harming the paint. Several washes per vehicle. It started to build up on my red truck also. But I don't know if the product has changed. I still see people selling it.

I just have it for when I travel
At home I use quality car detailing products.
Once I get this truck home I plan to clay bar, buff and rewax it anyway.
Then repaint it down the road.

#1922 has a sister now. I bought a totaled 92 Ty #0195 Black on Black.

Now sure yet if I'll try to resurect the 92 or just us it as a donor for my 93 rebuilt.

Pics later. Pick it up tommorrow.

Don't hardly think so. Baltimore/Essex is in MD/NJ and he is in CA. His truck sustained DS frontal damage and is on a trailer with a solid wood floor; the one pictured above sustained PS frontal damage and is on a trailer with steel rails and no center floor section.

Re: New Purchase #1922

Truck was in Concord, ca. Posted on Craigslist in the SFO Bay area about two months ago. Guy had 20 or thirty calls come in on day one, but he hand not completed the insurance write off yet so he couldn't sell it at that time. I guess I was the only person to keep in touch since when he finally cleared up his insurance issues he sold it to me that day.

Nice guy bought the truck for his 16 year old daughter, she drove it for 2 years in High School then they stored it while she was away at colledge. When she graduated they took it out of storage and this happens soon after. Ouch.

Trucks has some nice parts on it. Owned by a GM mechanic before he bought it. Stuffed with a suspension goodies and a rebuild less than 7k transmission. So who knows I may be able to rebuild it but if not then it will be a donor for a transplant in to my 1991 S15 Jimmy 4 door, which I bought new and kicked my self when the typoon came out a month later. :) I had a family at the time and couldn't justify a trade in or a Syclone the year before. Oh well took a few years but I finally got a Typhoon. I may be lucky again and find a Syclone to go with the set.

Went to the DMV to register the wreck I bought. Turns out his insurance company hasn't processed the paperwork yet to let the DMV know the truck is now a salvage vehicle. DMV would not issue me a salvage title. I had to register it as a normal transfer. They claim that eventually the DMV will be notified and at that time I'll have to go through the crap to request a salvage title, vin verification, brake and light test.

For now just smog is needed. Paid my fee's and hope the guy's insurance company is as bad as filing paperwork is as they were at dealing with the claim.

I've collected enough parts to start the rebuild on these trucks. I've started a build thread in case anyone's interested.
