New progressive SMC controller

I just looked on the SMC website and noticed they are now offering a progressive controller either by boost or MAP. Has anyone used one of these yet or know anyone who has? I was looking into a DIY mod to make the standard kit a prgressive, but this would be much easier if it worked well.

If anyone is interested I could talk to Steve and see if we could get a GP started on these controllers if he sells them seperately cause I know several people own SMC kits here on the boards. On the site he says it is a $100 option but doesn't list them as a seperate item for existing kits.

A progressive controller sure would be nice 8)

I'd be interested in at least hearing about SMC's progressive controller.

Sure wouyld be a nice option to help tune the mid top end, instead of having one setting for pump speed once it kicks on.

Let me know if you talk to steve and find out anything.

I would also like to know what you find out, Don. Please keep us informed if you talk to Steve.

well here is what I got in an e-mail this morning..........

Don:
We only need to know the style of kit you have to set up the new
controllers.
Style A: older round tank w/o pressure guage or pressure switch on
tank.
Style B: Newer rectangular tank with pressure guage/switch at tank.

Style A can be upgraded to Style B.

There are 2 different progressive controllers. One has a 2 bar MAP
sensor
and will bring in full pump speed by 16 psi-good for most engines
running up
to 21 psi. The other one (coming soon) has a 3 bar MAP sensor and has
an
adjustable top end, better suited for 22+ psi.

The 2 bar unit is $125, the 3 bar unit is $165. 10% off for 3 or more a
a
time.

Thanks!

so it looks to me that outright it is 165 but if we get 3 or more then we get it for around 150 flat. I'm up for it if we can get 2 more to go.

no problem......

was just wondering of the guys who already have SMC, apparantly I am the only one who see's(and wants to pay) for the benefit of a progressive controller. No big deal, a Gp only saved me 20 bucks or so.

I'm behind on the whole subject of alky inj,..is this just the control unit for the injection; or is this the whole kit for $150/165??
Thanx, djw

thanx for the reply...
I'm interested in a GP w/ the variable inj controller.
What's the price going to be for the whole kit?
alternatively where is the recommended source?

Thanx, djw

Wow..gotta kick my heels into OD to be ahead of SMC :)

3 bar progressive controller..who would of figured  Couple things you may want to consider,

ask before purchasing..

1) Can you vary the ramp?
2) What effects does varying the ramp have?
3) how much range does it have?
4) Can you have full output by 10 PSI or 30 PSI?
5) What happens if you set it to come on at 2 PSI, and while your trying to build 10 PSI boost to launch and it kicks on?

remember we are talking progressive, not standard spray at X psi..

dont ask how I know what questions to ask :)

hehe

Look at the GP section for more info..
