new poll.. shifter cable brackets.

ive looked into using the factory shift brackets on the tranny, and found the mounting to be less than desireable (read CRAPPY GM DESIGIN)

ive tried and tried to make the new shift cable work on the old brackets, with less than desireable results:rant: :tdown:

i have a aftermarket solution to this delima, in the form of a complete set of brackets, that will be direct bolt ons to the pan, and the selector lever.

this greatly simplifyes the lower setup, and makes it 10 times more reliable, than factory.

with the added benifets of these brackets being tucked up closer to the tranny, and this would end ALL the cutting and bending of the factory brackets, to run the gilbert shaft.

i know alot of you have this shaft, and alot more are gonna run it in the near future, including me!! so i thought ahead, and solved a desigin flaw, and a clearance issue at the same time.

these brackets add a little to the price of the kit, but the'll be available alot sooner if i dont have to deal with the crappy factory gm lower brackets.

so my question is,.... do you like the idea of a superior lower mounting setup??

or must you keep the factory lower gm stuff???

factory lower stuff bends too easily when the cable tightens up.....i bet they wouldn't tighten up if the rubber thing down there wouldn't tear.....when are the new cables ready for shipping? i could use one soon....

im shooting for the end of this month, if everything goes alright.

hope to have them finished by the april 2nd wrench session, and have 4-5 on hand

Sounds interesting ! I had planned to get a new transmission range select lever and modify it again to be satisfied with the results. In the past, I have always gotten any welding done TIG style by a pro so that it came out looking "presentable". I was crunched for time so, I let a bud do it before and it didn't come out so good. It works fine but won't win any beauty contests...
