Whats up everyone,
My name is Chris and over the weekend I became the new owner of Sy #2970. I bought it from a private seller in Jacksonville, FL and trailered it down to Naples, FL. While most of you were at Nats, jealous just a bit, I spent Saturday 5:30am - 9:30pm driving to get the truck. I can now thankfully say I am a member of this awesome group. I have looked around this site a bit to try and learn a few things, but I am sure i will ask some noob questions so please bare with me.

My first phase of work I want to do is to do a bunch of reliability mods. This will not be my daily driver, but I would like to take it out most weekends to drive around and have fun in :D After reading a few posts it looks like I should do the following mods: all new fluids, Walbro 255LPH fuel pump, ignition wires/etc., AFPR, chip & 3bar map, wide band O2, IC hotwire and hose change, 160 Tstat if not already in place have to check. Did I miss anything crucial? I also need to fix the odometer and speedo as both are dead.

The truck currently has an aftermarket intake, battery relocated to the bed, and a manual boost controller. I plan on removing the boost controller and getting a full auto one thoughts on any specific brand? I am also going to get a tubo timer on the truck soon. I would also like to replace the stock rims, most likely C5 Z06's, what size spacers would i need? I would eventually like to go to disc brakes all around.

I will post some pictures shortly, probably list more items to do, and definitely be asking questions. Thanks in advance for reading and any comments or suggestions.

i would replace all the vacuum lines also, along with a HD propshaft. Beings your doing reliability mods I would consider a tranny cooler. Get your basics out the way before you move on to 3 bar, AFPR, chip, etc. etc. Powertuneplus.com is a good site if you dont already know about it. Good luck and welcome!

You need to also establish if the intercooler pump is working or not. If it's the stocker I bet it's dead.

Hello Chris,

Did you purchase this truck off a Mike? If so, I was also looking at that truck a couple weeks ago. He seemed alright, and the truck sounded straight enough... just that JAX was a little far to drive a truck like that back home. Opted for one a little closer.

I also just got one, so I'm right there with ya on the learning.

I'm sure much more knowledgeable people will chime in, but I'd seriously consider re-enabling the stock boost control solenoid and letting the ECM/PCM control boost.

I've also been doing what Josh and a lot of the websites/this forum suggest, just doing tune-up stuff. I cannot believe how much better my truck drives and idles after doing a cap, rotor, plugs and wires. I also have been replacing all the fliuds too. Next I plan on replacing every vacuum hose on the truck, as some of them are really tired. Anyway, point being, you might be in the same boat.

Congrats on your purchase!

welcome Chris.

Glad the truck stayed in FL with the FAST group.

Ian and Adam are selling the silicon vacuum lines right now so don't wait to get them.
They sell out fast... lol

Best of luck with the truck, sounds like a good deal.

Gimpster, I did buy it from Mike but his son Jake was the one who sold it. Jax was a bit of a trip but definitely worth it. Not quite as far as your trip would have been

I will have to talk to the FAST group and Ian and Adam about the vacuum lines.

Re: New owner of Syclone #2970

We will be having a little tuning meet sometime soon (no date has been pinned down yet) and there always is the Annual Fast meet at Gary's in miami at the end of January .

Welcome to this love-hate relationship . We try to have something at least 2-3 times a year and now with more trucks in running order, some track time should be coming up . Getting on the mailing list wouldnt be a bad idea either , it will keep you in the direct loop without missing anything local . Contact Sy0237 on the boards here for the list signup info .
