New Owner of a project...

O well, I'll find another
Well finally got one. Its going to be a project though...... If someone will host pics I can send them. I plan on keeping this thread updated every week with the progress and pics.
Anyway, this 93 Ty will have a complete under hood transplant. Everything is going to be NIB besides little unseen stuff. The motor is being built this week and should be delivered next week sometime. It will be a 383 Stroker with 10.5:1 compression, edelbrock proformer aluminum heads and manifold, w/ 750 edelbrock carb and HEI distributor. I have most of the other underhood engine components after last nights shopping spree at northern auto parts...Now I need a custom gauge cluster made with two 5in autometers...If anyone knows where to get this done let me know...Heres what I want it to look like, minus the underhood gauges...

My only concerns are the tranny... The motor is rated at 440hp and 475lbs. I figure it will need rebuilt sooner then later. Any thoughts on this?

If the transmission is in good shape it should hold up to that power for a while. Put on a tranny cooler and see how it holds. Its really the torque that ruins the transmssions. Stock SyTy with just a good chip have been dynoed at 500ft-lbs of torque and they hold up for a while.

Well it seems that peoples word isnt worth a damn these days...
By the way I drove 800miles and the trip cost me 250$ for gas and hotel...
This is the second bad experience I have encountered with sellers on this site...Im seriously thinking about droping the Ty idea all together, after 5years of looking...

Just another reason it is best to have someone local go check out the truck before you invest in travelling to see it.

Dont blame the forum, shitty owners are not OUR fault!

Dude I love this forum, and from the help you all have given me through my search, I figured I could trust his word...
Its not like I drove there and it sucked so I turned around, Im ok with spending 250$ to check out a truck, even if I say "sorry this one isnt for me". Thats different...
We exchanged emails and phone calls for a month, talking about the truck and me coming to look at it for a purchase...
We talked about what was included for the price face to face on Sat. and had everything worked out with the sale, except for exact pick up date, we decided two weeks or three weeks from this past weekend for pick up. We shook hands and I left thinking I just bought a Ty...
Then the deal is done and he backs out...WTF?

Re: New Owner of a project...

Ive bought and sold TONS of cars, and had potential buyers back out TONS of times. Shit happens sometimes. Ive never backed out of selling a vehicle before but it happens a lot. People change their minds, I have sold so many cars and never regretted any, even long after the sale, and I regretted this one without actually even selling it yet. First thing I said when you got there is that after putting all the work in it getting it ready to sell, it now seemed to make sense just to follow through and finish the truck and sell it that way. Should have given a deposit and I would have made you a receipt and I would have been kinda SOL then.

I'm the bad seller guys, because for the first time I decided not to sell something after thinking about it further, Im sure that's never happened before...............

BTW, don't EVER buy parts for a car you don't own yet.....not a good plan

Re: New Owner of a project...

Well I tried to buy it, I have cash in hand and had the plans for the motor in the hands of the machine guy...Its a real shame it would fly like a SOB...
He told me in his most recent email "its way over your head you couldnt do it anyway"...Does he know me...? NO!!!!! If you cant do it you can pay someone...How hard is that...The only sh*t I question myself on is the wiring...But I can follow a diagram...AUGH....
"Goosefraba"

Not only is ownig one of these a project, but buying one as well...

Re: New Owner of a project...

Unfortunately you can't take people for their word nowadays...long gone are the days of a hand shake and an honest verbal deal.

Sucks to have to go about business that way but it will save you heartache in the end.

Theres another vehicle out there, and next time you find one you want...leave a deposit to have some sort of legal recourse to fall back on.

Yeah, now I know...But hopefully he will come around in the next few days...If not to then I guess I have an extra roll of cash in the bank(-$250 for the trip to see it)...
