Hey everyone I just picked up that ty that was spoke about all ready for 2k and still cant believe it,the truck has cleaned to to new status and runs perfect and even chirps 2nd...It has the propshaft missing so im guessing its got issues somewhere with the transfer case or something, the front end is new and I really like this thing..

I own a 68 rs the was featured on pinks pass time and ran 11's there but allways ran a 10.6 consistantly...The last time out the front brakes locked on the line and it was running fat and some other issues and I blew it apart like 2 weeks ago,Ive since ordered a dart block, forged internals and a set of PT turbos and im building a twin turbo 408 for it,no more nitrous..

I have a GN that is pretty cool and fun to drive,Its just got boltons and alky from Julio at Alky controll and a trans, coverter, electric cut-out,custom chip,GT-72 turbo(not sure the exact size as it was on when I got it)..

I have a A-Team looking van I did for fun and to get attention for my business..

I just go that ty and plan on keeping it pretty much stock..Well got to go the wife is,well you know..

Here is some pics and links..

Stock Propshaft break and/or the boot rips. I would just try replacing it.

Re: New member, first time ty owner..

well, its been repainted, but looks decent so far.

Im curious to know how you can tell I mean I know its got new stickers and not in the right spots but this paint was faded like original and I buffed it out big time and I detailed in the day and have not found overspray anywhere that leads me to believe this to be true, but ill look into it more..

it was just a guess based on the fact that all of the decals are in wrong locations, and judging by the silver decals, Im guessing its a 92 as well? If so, its missing the door handle escutcheons as well, and those are hard as heck to remove without doing any damage to the paint, not impossible, just difficult.

what number is the truck? (last 4 digits of the VIN) and is it a 92?

Re: New member, first time ty owner..

If its a repaint they did it before 2001 as the owner I got it from garage kept it since 01 when they purchased it and I dont think its repainted due to every bolt has no white paint on it,no jam overspray, nothing anywhere..Maybe the truck may have had a accident as I never pulled a vin check on it,and the front drivers fender and spoiler seemed to be easier to buff than the rest of the truck..

its ok, I have silver on my 93 as well
The decals look gold to me, if I look closely enough. My guess is the cladding has been repainted white. It is a different shade than the body, and looks like bc/cc paint [gloss]. I think PAS used single stage on the solid color cladding. I know the gray was. This was probably a wht/gry truck originally.

Nice find for 2,500. Gonna' "part it out"?

it was originally a white/white according to the database.

The stickers on the side are gold the one in the rear is silver...2k was what I paid but have $2500 in it now with all this stuff ive done to it..I would never part it out this truck is awesome, clean.no mods and runs like new..Im also guessing the truck was bought, beat on and traded in..And then thats when these people bought it,it had 89,000 on it when they got it in 2001 and a new motor was allready in it,so im guessing it was beat on or something then traded back to the dealer where they added new stuff and resold it,but who knows..

Re: New member, first time ty owner..

as you are a car guy, nice looking truck, but i would do a compression check, since they intalled a new engine. it might have been swapped with an highercompression engine. since 2k isn't alot you might as well just beat on it and swap to an other engine later. but just a thought

Welcome fellow TYs. Very nice find, I'm glad it went to a gearhead like us.

I bleed oil:p

This trucks in good hands now:tup:

One thing different in this truck compaired to my GN is this truck dont leak a drip of oil anywhere?

So who knows the best way to change the passenger exhaust manifold gasket?
Is it too hard?

Re: New member, first time ty owner..

Their isn't a gasket from the factory. Look for a crack in the manifold.

you might have a cracked manifold, there are no gaskets usedon thesefrom factory. it's not that hard, you need a spreader tool to mount it back on

Welcome! We hate you for snagging such a great deal, but in a good way. ;) Kudos.

These things leak too, just not from the rear main like GNs. Oil return line off the turbo are primary suspect on SyTys....it's a weak link.

Everything is a bit harder on these trucks (vs. GNs) because of the incredibly tight space in the bay. Lots of work in the bay is made easier by removing the wheel wells. I'm not kidding.

Good luck! Welcome again...you lucky bahstad!
