What’s up everybody, I'm a new member here!

I DO NOT own a syty, but I've always wanted one. I've been in love with these trucks sense I first saw one 12 years ago.

I've always been a huge 1st gen S10 guru, and I've built a few v8 s10's. Then I got into DSM's for way too long, but I've built a few very fast cars (9.80's :D)....but I've grown tired of the DSM community (a lot of little shit heads lol), and I've decided to move on.

Unfortunately I can’t afford a real SYTY, so I'm thinking of building what yall might consider a clone with a LS1 (flame suite on).

Anyways, that’s my spill!

With today's prices there are some real SyTys that may be in your price range.

If you were planning on making a true clone (one with cladding) it might be cheaper to buy a real one.

There are already several real SyTys equipped with LS1s LS2s etc. so I wouldn't expect any flaming over that.

Welcome.

Your right Powercat6, I found one for 6k but it looks really rough!

Bulding a clone was originally my plan, until I started trying to source the parts. The last time I checked I think it was about 5K just for the cladding  which is out of the question.

I've heard sportmachines.net carries them brand new, but I cant navigate thier dang website to find any parts.

Welcome to the site. There are plenty of solid cheap trucks out there now. Building a true clone will cost more that a real one.

:rotf: his sig says he owes a 91 Ty. I'd stay away from that truck unless you could get it for $3k.

He's a member on here; maybe he never noticed his sig was wrong.

Isnt that the ty that some guy posted a video of on youtube, he bought it off of ebay, seller said it was perfect and almost all cladding was broken and it had mold all over the carpet and the steering wheel, I think the truck was flooded or something like that?

Not the same truck; that Ty is in Massachusetts.

Re: New member, Baton Rouge LA

For 6k I would say that truck is way over priced, and you can find a better deal. The older wiser members will tell you to keep your distance from that truck, as it needs a lot of cladding and body work to make it right...not to mention 230 on the clock says full drivetrain rebuild to me.

Unless you can get him down on price by say 3 grand, and plan on fully tearing it apart...close your wallet and back away slowly.

Also, if you can, have someone familiar with these trucks look at it too. If you haven't I would read over the buyer's checklist as well.

Regardless, good luck, and welcome

Re: New member, Baton Rouge LA

Here's a prime candidate for an LS1 swap (It's not mine) Buy it, sell off ECM/chip intake and exhaust manifolds etc. then drop in the engine of your choice.

Needs rebuild. No compression #5 cylinder.Have new ABS unit to be installed.Recent master cylinder installed, but brakes still weak.Rebuild master kit is around $900.Has a ecm shut off box for racing.Accidently bumped switch and leaned the engine out too much and burned hole in #5 piston.Do not have money to rebuild it.Gave $10,000 for truck in November 2011.Spark plugs are pulled, so engine not running.Do not want to take chance damaging engine more.
