New look

Went junkyardin for some leaf springs and found a camaro that had just been in a rear ender getting taken apart in the garage. I searched for anything worth yanking off and noticed it had pretty clean zr1 wheels on it. 9.5"s up front and 11"s in the rear. I asked him how much and he said hed take four hundred. I asked how much with the tires with them and he said I could have it all for $400. I waited a day and came back to buy them yesterday. Fronts are sumitomo htrz with about 80% tread and rears are nitto drag radials with close to 40%. So far i like the feel but I'm getting an allignment today so that will help a lot. The front caps dont quite fit over the bolt so I'm probably going to get that chopped down a little this next week (thats what most people do right?). 1 wheel has a paint chip from a lug nut or tire iron close to the center and thats the only damage I have found. They look brand new.

Yeah, those bastards and their weak tabs are in my garage waiting to be repaired. Also the right front arch and surrounding is off because of the tabs.

I was really happy how clean they were and how well they matched the cladding.
What do you mean by the rolling diameter? Do they tilt or something and affect that? I'm getting a full allignment right now.

Re: New look

some people claim 2 different heights front and rear will make the t case hurt or fail i have seen many people run up to 3/4in. higher in the rear with no ill effects. so take it as you will.

Re: New look

Im pretty sure they are carbon fiber tails. They were given to me by a local guy (syclone 1639) but they have a carbon fiber look. They may just be smoked out euros or something. blend in well with the black paint I hate those stock red ones. I got those bolts cut down and fit the caps on too.

Re: New look

I have the same wheels and love them.. I think those go really well with the gray cladding you have. Nice score

Re: New look

the thing about the different diameters of the tyres is very important. As the 4 wheel drive is permanent, the transfer case will be rotating less for wheels with bigger diameters and more for the smaller ones, so it places the drive under stress and will scrub your tyres. In the long run if the difference is too big you will destroy your transfer case and be 2WD.

Awesome find!

I used a cut off wheel and compressor to chop off my axle ends. WEAR SAFTEY GLASSES! Now my center caps fit perfectly!
